The reason you have 4 plugs on your sub is because it has a dual voice coil. It is basically like having 2 subs in one. You have 2 wiring options you can wire in 2ohm or 8 ohm loads. most amps are 1,2,or 4 ohm so i suggest going 2 ohm. The amp should be rated for 800-1200Watts @ 2 ohm load for this sub to work properly and make sure that amp is at max 80% by adjusting gain. This website will help with wiring be sure to note that for 2 ohm load the + are hooked up together. and the - are hooked together a parrallel ciruit.

The subwoofer is a dual voice coil. so you have three options here.1 you could put a wire from one of the - to one of the + and that would give you 8 ohms or, 2 you could put a wire from the - to the other - and + to the other + and it would give you 2 ohms. or one more option would be if your amp is two channel you could wire each channel two each voice coil and each would be 4 ohms each but you need to use a 1 female to a two male Y adapter.

  • Anonymous Mar 26, 2010

then if you put them into 8 ohms each you could use option 2 and put both subs in 4 ohms together so if you have a 2 channel amp i would go with option 2 and that would put 2 ohms on each channel.

I would just run 2 positive wires to the positive on your amp and all negatives to your negative port.

on your amp under the back seat their are 2 plugs the one on the left which is the smaller of the 2 there is a Tan wire w/Orange stripe on it hook the remote wire from stereo plug which will be blue w/white stripe to that wire so it will power-up your amp...Bottom line, no amp = no sound, unless you figure what wires are the speaker wires and hook directly to your stereo plug............Its an easy fix

Speaker or amp?

your running too low impedence, and yes its cuz of your sub wiring. How to wire it depends if its 2ohm dual voice coil, or 4ohm dual voice coil, so i'll explain both. O.K. first of all i hope its 4 ohm so you can get max power from your sub. If it is 4 ohm dual voice coil connect + to +, and - to - on your speaker, then to connect it to your amp, splice a wire into the wire running from + to + and connect it to your amp's + terminal. Do the same with your - wire. If its a 2 ohm dual voice coil, connect the + from one set of terminals on the speaker, to the - on the other terminal. Then to connect it to the amp, plug a wire from the open + terminal on the speaker and connect it to the + plug on the amp, and do, connect the empty - to the - on the amp. Good luck and if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask...

My name is Noah. I have a Volfenhag zx 7150 2 channel amp, and I was wondering if I could use this amp to run my mids and highs. And if yes, how would I run the wiring?

Hello violentj_1_u,

Yes, the amp can be used to power normal speakers on 2 channels.

The best way to wire the amp to a stock receiver (head unit) is to use a pair of wiring harnesses, one the standard harness that plugs into the vehicle wiring, the other a "reverse" harness that plugs into the stock receiver.

First remove the plug from the receiver and plug in the "reverse" harness. Run the speaker leads from the reverse harness to your amp inputs or to a line output converter (LOC) and RCA's to the amp. Then run the amp speaker outputs to the standard harness speaker wires. Plug the original receiver plug into the standard harness and splice the remaining wires, 12V constant, 12V accessory, ground, illumination, etc, together. Connect the 12V switched wire to your amp remote terminal.

Hope this helps.

Radio comes on but no sound

Check your wiring to your speakers or AMP.

If not amp, you may have slipped a wire from the back or wired them backwards.

If AMP, make sure RCA leads are plugged in securely and speaker cabling is entered correctly.
