I took my receiver to the local Yamaha repair

I took my rx-v 2600 receiver to the local Yamaha repair center. They say it need a WG078700 DSP CIRCUIT BOARD. They wanted too much to repair it. Is this something that could be installed easily if I purchased the part? Is there an inexpensive place to purchase the board?

There is only one authorized repair place in Dallas. They attempted to do a component replacement but that did not work. So they wanted to replace the entire board. That's when things started getting expensive. The problem with the receiver is that the left speaker quits working. If I turn it off and then on, the speaker starts working again but quits shortly after. It is an intermittent problem the repair shop had difficulty finding and isolating.

OK. I will try standard mode (no surround). It may take a couple of days as it is not hooked up right now and with all the wires, it does take some time to get it going. Not sure how to do what you want but will make it happen.
    Thanks

You sound like you have done this before. You have phone number that I can use?

Board price is $182.00 by the way. PLus I paid K-O Electronics $75.00 to evaluate the problem.

The board price won't be cheap. Were they going to replace the board or repair it? It is possible that the component parts are not available from Yamaha and the only option is to replace the board. Other shops may be able to repair the board. What was the original problem that lead them to want to replace the board?

That does not sound like a DSP issue to me. Can you try an experiment? Set the unit for standard stereo mode (no surround) and see if you can duplicate the problem and report the results here.

    Thanks,

    Dan

You should be able to set the unit to standard by turning off surround. This will isolate the problem to either the DSP board or the feeder to it.

My Yamaha RX-V465 will not stay on. It seems to short out every time and nothing else is hooked up.

If it is not working even without any cables attached, you can check the connectors (especially the speaker ones) for little pieces of cable strands which might short-circuit the connectors.
If nothing like that is found, the short-circuit is inside the receiver and you should contact service center for repair.

Yamaha RX-V595 Receiver will play Dolby Digital 3/2.1 audio Blu-Ray disc with player set to bitstream but will not play DTS-HD 3/2.1 unless output is set to PCM. Is this an issue with the Yamaha Recei

The optical connection (SPDIF) doesn't have enough bandwidth to transfer DTS-HD audio. To use DTS-HD, you must connect the blue-ray player and receiver via HDMI cable.

Each DTS-HD audio track on blue-ray includes also "normal" DTS audio, which is probably used when you select PCM. Player decodes it and sends decoded (non-HD) audio via optical cable to receiver.

How do you reset Yamaha rx-v3300 receivers to factory settings? some of the settings got changed and we are not sure what they were

A reset would REQUIRE you to go through EVERY setting anyway, so why don't you just go through every setting manually and leave the ones that look ok alone?

Rx-v800, have a problem when i swtich the input mode, it will turn off. after leave it for few months, now no problem but not sound.

Test an audio source like "DVD" connected to the "Direct" input with left, center, right, rear, andsub input. put the receiver in "Direct mode" if you get audio, the main DSP chip is bad, get an estimate first since it can only be verified by bench testing the unit. It's not a cheap repair 400-500 range. Most new Yamaha receiver's in the modest range run 500-800- new. Hope this helps

Yamaha RX V 657 - No Sound Output, and No input detection

Bad DSP chip. The only other possibility is if you have the "Direct" on. On the front of the receiver it's a small button. Also make sure your "Speaker Select" A/B is "on" You will see it on the display, it's also a small button on the front of the receiver. If all this is correct and you still have no audio, it's a bad DSP chip. Not worth repair, it's 400-500 repair. Not very common in a Yamaha RX-V series, but I have seen it. I'm a Yamaha Dealer. If you need further help, post a comment and I will be glad to help you further.

I have distortion coming out of my front right channel of my AVR

Yes, sounds like your DSP chip has an issue. Not an inexpensive repair if that's the culpret. Around 400-500 to replace the chip. It's an awesome receiver and worth 300-400 in repair, however, a 3800 or 1800 can be had for 600-800 depending where you look. If you need more help, post a comment and I can help you some more.

Rx v2095 receiver - No sound from either front main speaker

I have had similar problems on a Denon. I suspect your DSP needs repaired and/or replaced. Need to contact authorized Yamaha repair shop or a competent local repair facility. I have a Yamaha RX-V2092 which is similarly designed. I have had it for 10 years. Hope this helps.
