The head drive voltage has dropped from the high to low level in an abnormally short period.You need to replace the head carriage unit.

Brother 420cn mfc, cant print It asks me to read in the routine maintenance of the trouble shooting guide.

Did you use non-Brother brand ink refills? If so, the print head is probably clogged. If that is the case, it's almost cheaper and easier to replace the printer itself. Sorry. I loved my MFC-210C until it quit, and the internet is full of people complaining about the whole MFC series. Going on 2 trouble free years with my Canon, better print, better optics, wireless, but no fax, unfortunately.

Readout -

Error "unable to clean" on Brother MFC Hi there

Solution:
· Machine off
· Switch on the machine while holding down the “menu”button until all the leds are flashing on/off. Now you are in “maintenance” mode.
· Press 80
· Press the “mono start” button several times until you see “purge: xxxx”
· Press “2783” in order to reset the purge counter. You will see: “purge:0000”
· Press the "stop" button.
· Press “99” to exit the maintenance mode.

UNABLE TO PRINT

press menu then start bk copy then fourtimes arrow-up button (tel.index) quick after another.

machine will be in maintenance mode and lights will flash.

press start bk copy in case machine wont directly display the error code.

Error starting with 4 means defective print head.
Error starting with 5 menas defective purge station or cycle problems.

both error series means: you need a new printer...

When ever you get an error message like the one you are describing, there should be a numerical code with it.

Most of the time when you get an error code like this, it is a mechanical problem with the machine.

Try unplugging the power for about 5 minutes to see if that clears it out, otherwise you might as well replace it. A machine like this has been discontinued and is not worth paying for repairs.
