Colored vertical streaks - looks like a transfer belt problem, and it's not user fixable. You may need a new belt unit - you can find it for around US$ 80-120, but you may want to have a technician inspect the unit first, since it could arguably be the drum instead, and you don't want to fork around US$ 100 and replace the wrong part.
You can try showing a printer sample at a print shop; by looking at the streaks it is possible to diagnose drum, fuser or belt problems.
Here you find a much more detailed page, for another printer model, but the issues are mainly the same for most color printers:

What causes brother mfc-9840cdw scanner streaks?

optics, open up and just clean every thing you can get at, a streak, will be dust in optics, clean mirrors etc, if very fine lines on every thing, as you say laser printer, would be drum damage. just on scans dust. might need to take top glass plate off.

I have a xante 502 it has streaking on the top side of printing I printed each color and streaking is on each color with black the worst what part do I replace?

if you are familiar with ilumina menu search for the ID Test Pattern. Print test using 11 x 17 page.
On the copy you will see which of the drums need to replace, if the copy has vertical or horizontal lines on it the drum which ever color shows it has to be replace.

Streaks or lines

Vertical streaks:
Check, which color/s streaks are appearing on print out, remove that cartridge/s check on drum surface for streaks.. if found replace that cartridge/s..check.
Horizontal streaks:
This problem appears when the cartridge/s image drum not rotating properly. Resit the cartridges properly, print 20nos of blank pages, then check.... replace the cartridge..

Color streaks on page

Had a similar problem. Tried lost of things. In my case, the streaks cleared up after I cleaned the toner drum.

Balck and white streaks on left side of paper

Usually if there are streaks you need to change the pcu that is the same color as the lines. If the streaks are gray it also could be the fuser, but i would think it is the pcu.

My drum is at 40%. I have black vertical streaks

I was going crazy! Had a tech come in and look at the machine - needless to say he did NOTHING! A friend came over and was trying different things. It was that the "rack" that the toner cartridges sit in was not fully seated - once he pushed down a little and heard it "click" I had no more black streaks. AMAZING

Magenta Dots vertically on Left margin of page

That is referred to as a repeating defect...most likely caused by a defect on the magenta drum unit. Here is a link for information on how to repair this problem:

Lines on Paper

Under the drum there is a thin ****-glass. Make sure there is nothing on the glass. Do not use compressed air to remove the debris from the glass. Use a dust cloth or such. Using air will blow the debris into the laser unit and it will have to be taken apart to be cleaned.

LONG WHITE VERTICAL LINES

It sounds like the drum may need to be replaced. The streaks may be caused by sections of the drum no longer being able to hold a charge and therefore, toner will not properly stick to the paper in those sections and you'll be left with long white streaks on the paper. This is a usual symptom of a bad drum.
