Restart the router. Turn it off and then on Make sure the IP address is correct and it is properly connected. Other than that there cannot be any problem. Confirm that the IP address is 192.168.0.1

Go to a command prompt.
Type ipconfig and press enter
Check the IP address for the adapter you are using (wireless or Ethernet)
Make sure your address is in the same subnet 192.168.0.XXX
If not, you can set a fixed IP address in that range by changing the adapter settings.
Here are step-by-step instructions showing you how to set IP address and other network information:
1) Go to Start and click on Control Panel.
2) Control Panel window will appear. Double click on Network Connections.
3) Network Connections window will appear. Right click correct Local Area Connection by identifying correct network card and click Properties.
4) Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP). Click on Properties.
You can now key in the IP address, Subnet mask, Default gateway and DNS servers
the IP address should be 192.168.0.XXX where XXX is not the same as another computer on your network and is less than 255.

Also, always do this connection with an ethernet cable, not wireless.

After you get this resolved, go in and set your address on the adapter back to Automatic.

Are you sure that is the correct ip address?

What make and model is your router? That ip address is used by Netgear.

Please respond with a comment here and I can help.

Alternatively, connect to your router with a network cable and you can then access the config page without using wireless.

We have a networked HP Laserjet 4100; a new PC was added and the printer does not show as available on the network for this new Dell Vostro 460. The driver was installed and still nothing. Can you suggest...

Thank you for contacting FixYa with your printer inquiry.
This is usually a pretty common network problem for printers and other devices on a network. If you network uses DHCP that automatically assigns IP address's you may have developed a conflict when you installed your new printer.
You will want to print a configuration page from both printers to determine what the IP address of each is then manually configure independent IP address for each to preclude further conflicts.
Refer to this excellent HP document page on the LJ4100 Jet Direct Card for manual configuration:

How do u set a password onthe router?

Hi,

Welcome to Fixya. Im want to set a password of the network you need to access the router page.

To access the router page you need a working computer that is connected to the router. To access your router you need to use a computer that is connected to it. Open a Browser then type 192.168.0.1 or http://routerlogin.net. The Default username is admin and the password is password. Password is case sensitive.

Go to the Wireless Tab select Wireless Security select either WEP, WPA or WPA2 under the Security Mode you will see there Network Key (Wep/Wpa Key) or Passphrase. The Network Key serves as a password or security code on your network to make it secure. Network Key is case sensitive.

Thanks for using Fixya.

My belkin has an orange color and i cant connect to my laptop because it has an red X saying the settings saved on this computer for the network do not match the requirements or the network Please help!

Hi lil_dreamer,

The Reason why you have that message is because the Network Key on the Router did not match the Network Key that you've entered on the computer to fix this you need to access your Wireless Settings Page and check the Network Key after that we will remove the same settings on the computer and add a new one.

To access your router just open a Browser then type 192.168.2.1, password is blank. Click on the Security under Wireless. You can change the security type of your rotuer to WPA, WEP or you can also Disable the security. Personalize the Passphrase or Network Key so that you can easily remember it.

Now that we have the information needed lest configure your computer.

- Click on Start or Orb.
- Click on Control Panel.
- Select Network and Sharing Center.
- Click on Manage Wireless Networks on left under Task
- Remove all the Saved Networks on the list.
- Click on Add.
- Select Manually create a network profile.
- Enter the Network Name (SSID), Select the Encryption Type (WPA,WEP,WPA2), Enter you Passphrase or Network Key.
- Put a Tick or Check on Start this connection Manually.
- Click on Connect. Wait for the confirmation and it will work fine now.

Don't forget to say thanks. Thanks for using Fixya.

I have problem setting up my wireless network and redirecting my wireless client to my local webpages before they can access to internet.   see this diagram below :...

you need to replace your modem with a router that is capable of running Network Address Translation. You are trying to route private IP's (192,168.x.x) over the public IP (internet) network.

Unable to connect wireless

Since you are unable to go via wireless, follow these steps:

1) Access your router configuration pages by typing in 192.168.1.1 into your web browser.
2) Click the tab that says Wireless.
3) Make sure the wireless broadcast option is enabled. If it isn't, enable it and select save settings.
4) Set up the wireless network through your Vista PC by going to Start > Network.
5) At the top of the window, select add a wireless device. Follow the onscreen instructions to add your Linksys Wireless Access Point.
6) Once added, right click on Wireless-G Router (name varies) and select configure. Follow the onscreen instructions to configure your router. (You can find your router pin by following steps 1-2 and selecting Wi-Fi Protected Set up.)
7) Once completed, attempt to connect to the internet via wireless router.

Configuring wireless network for safety of data

In order for you to secure the wireless network from your router , you just need to access the router setup page and there you will see an option to enable a wirteless security like WEP/WPA but I advice you to use WPA which is a much higher type of security, If you don't know how to access your router setup page to enable the wireless security better call the manufacturer of your router so they can walk you through with that process..

Hope that helps............
