How to initiate a document scan??

I have had this machine for over a year; took forever to set it up because the instruction manuals are horrendous. This machine is the most non-intuitive machine I have ever owned. Tried to scan to my PC from the machine. Did it once by dumb luck, cannot for the life of me (3 days later) repeat it. I have just spend an hour combing through the online manual, which has dozens of pages on how to configure it, but NOTHING I can find about how to operate the scan function!!! All I want to do is scan a multi-page document to my printer and save it as a .pdf. When I open Document Manager and click File > Acquire Image, the only choice is my little old desktop scanner, Visioneer. No Panasonic DP-190...and this is in the Panasonic Document Manager.

Help!!

Many thanks,

Paula

Ok...can you scan from the front panel controls, at all? Is this a computer manager fault? Let's isolate this, shall we? you should be able to scan from buttons on front, by placing a doc on the glass, and pressing scan..

Lexmark Pro901 When scanning from document feed the machine seems to scan only a part of the page whilst cutting out the information at the bottom of the page.

Make sure to set the correct paper size when scanning from the ADF. If you're scanning a legal size document, set the paper size to legal.

If it doesn't work, try to reset the printer back to its factory settings:

1 From the home screen, touch Setup (wrench icon), and then touch Use Factory Defaults.
2 Touch Yes.
3 When prompted to set the initial settings of your printer, make your selections using the touch screen.

I scanned a document, but when I go to attach the file, it stays in attaching files forever??

Greg, Do you mean that when you want to send it by email it keeps attaching the file forever? If yes then check the size of the scanned document. What happens is that the moment you attach a document to an email Windows start sending it to the email server and that takes time as uploading is slower than downloading. And if the file a large one as scanned documents can be, then it will take that much longer. Try a smaller document first. Size wise small document. If that works fine then you can try larger documents. yes it may be time consuming but there is no price for mental satisfaction. To reduce the size of the scanned document, reduce the pixels in settings of the scanner. or reduce the page size. You will find the document reduced many times over.

Canon DR-3080 CII scans only half or right side of document

Try all formats, Color, Grey & Black & white. If you have problem it could be the scan module. Check for loose contacts, but this is rare in a working machine.

How do you scan to PDF on a Konica Minolta Bizhub 353?

Touch [Fax/Scan] to display the initial screen for fax/scan operations.
Touch [Scan Settings] to specify detailed settings for scanning
In Scan Settings >File Type , select elect the file type for saving the scan data. The following file types are available (PDF,Compact PDF, TIFF, JPEG, XPS, Compact XPS).
Touch [PDF] or [Compact PDF]

In addition, the grouping of the saved data (single PDF or multi-page PDF) and the encryption settings (encryption level, password, document permissions, and other detail settings) can be specified.

You should check the user’s manual for images and more detailed info on how to operate the machine.

Is there a way to program it to fax to a group of numbers at one time

You can use the "Broadcast " feature to send one fax to up to 112 numbers listed in your speed dial. To set this up:
  1. Insert the original into the ADF.
  2. Press Quick Scan/Reports. The display should show how much memory is available.
  3. Enter the One-Touch or Speed Dial numbers for the recipients you want to send to (one after the other). You can also setup a group dial number.
  4. Press Fax Start. The machine will scan the document into memory and then dial all the numbers you've entered. If any are busy it will attempt to redial.
  5. Press Stop/Exit at any time to cancel the broadcast.
If you need further instruction on how to setup group or speed dial numbers, Brother provides the user manual online.

Hope this helps!

I want to scan then send instead of scanning whilst sending

There are 2 methods of sending 1. Through memory, in which the machine scans the document then sends when all pages have been scanned. 2. In real time, in which the document is placed in the ready mode and the line monitor or handset is used to dial the number. In this case the document is not scanned until a response is heard from the other machine.
However, in the case of the memory being full, either of documents in the queue or if there are documents waiting to be printed (because of no toner or no paper) then the machine will not allow sending from memory.
