I have a Kenmore Elite dishwasher (model 630.17303406) and it just stopped working. Doesn't drain what's left in the bottom and just makes a humming sound when turned on. Power is good, sounds like the motor is working. Doesn't seem like it is drawing water in. I want to check the pump and motor, anybody have any advice?

Indicates a drain problem. Either blocked drain somewhere or defective drain pump

You may want to try:
Press a series of four buttons in quick succession. Press "Heated Dry," "Normal Wash," "Heated Dry" and "Normal Wash" to instruct your Kenmore dishwasher to run a short diagnostic test.
Wait for two minutes while your Kenmore dishwasher runs its diagnostic test.
Press the "Cancel/Drain" button once your dishwasher has completed its diagnostic test. This should reset your dishwasher control panel.
Check to make sure that there's no standing water in the bottom of your dishwasher. Standing water in your dishwasher may indicate that your dishwasher has stopped mid-cycle. You will need to press the "Cancel/Drain" button before you can reset your dishwasher control panel.

How much water? Does some drain out. If so its usually a dirty filter. Some Dishwashers have several filters underneath the bottom sprayer. Hey Steve,Sorry it took me so long to answer i was offline and my add is not supposed to displayed when i am off line so sorry about that.
Now then on that dishwasher with the hum and no water circulation it sounds as if the main wash motor is jammed up for some reason it could be that the motor itself is defective or as simple as something such a piece of debris such as broken glass or almost anything caught in the motor causing it to not turn on,by disassembling the wash motor you can see if something is caught in,if nothing is caught in its a (sorry to say) the motor itself thats bad and would need to replaced.The reason the water drains even though it will not circulate is because of the separate drain pump that is working Please reply back after disassembling the pump to check for debris if ya need further assistance.

Sounds like the motor is stuck. If your careful you can unplug the dishwasher or turn the breaker off, take the bottom panel off and reach in with your finger and spin the motor assembly.

My Magic Chef dishwasher is humming when I turn it on. Then when I force it to the next setting where the water turns on it still hums. I am afraid of it burning the motor so I just stopped it. What could the problem be?

empty out the unit and recheck the arm and rack then start it up empty and check operation --if huming but working properly --stated it does drain so motor is operating ---then its operating normal ---if arm still not working will need to remove arm and check gear or shaft for damage

Won't start nor drain. what could the problem be? please help.
