I recently bought ASUS U31F and i am having issues with @ function on keyboard. If i try to get @ working on numberpad on top using shift function system is returning " sign and if i press " sign...

Go to the control panel and look for the Region and Language option. Make sure the options on the Formats tab correspond to your location. Then go to the Keyboards and Languages tab and click the Change keyboards button. If a keyboard for your location and language is not shown, click Add and add it to the list. Remove any other keyboards that are shown that you do not use.
The problem is caused by Windows thinking you are using an American keyboard in the UK or the other way around. Changing the Region and Language options above should fix the problem.
Best of luck!

When i conect my keyboard then shown the massage"usb device does not recognize the windows" what i do ?

If the computer will not recognize the keyboard as plug and play, then, what you will need to do is to install appropriate driver for this keyboard.

Let me know if you don't have the driver for the keyboard and i will give you one.

My friend just bought a new Acer Computer, and is having trouble with the keyboard, he cant get the @ .there for he can't access email program or enter email addresses. Please help.

Sounds like the Acer has been installed with or is running the US style keyboard....this means that the @ instead of being as shown is actually available by using the shift key and 2 (it's instead of the " shown)
Get them to change to a UK keyboard via settings and they wont have to improvise!

Kid spilled soda now keyboard will not type

Hi There !!

Thank you for choosing Fixya. The chances are rare that it would work, because liquid may have done damage to the integrated circuit.

But we can give it a try:

What you will need:
  • lint free cloth.
  • dry cloth or duster.
  • suitable cleaning fluid (isopropyl alcohol).
  • cotton buds.
  • Can of compressed air or vacuum cleaner.
  • Flat tip screwdriver (optional for thorough clean).
Shutdown your PC and remove the mains plug, unplug the keyboard(remember where it was plugged in) and hold it upside down to releaseany debris from inbetween the keys.

This is where the patience comes in, make a note ofthe position of all the keys or you will have trouble putting them backcorrectly, alternatively just remove the letter keys A - Z from the keyboard (which is where the most of the dust/debris will be) and refer to fig 1.4 as a reference to put them back.

All the keys can be removed although the larger keys (space bar, enterkey, shift keys, backspace, caps lock, etc) can be difficult to putback so you might avoid removing them.

Remove the keys using the screwdriver, ease the screwdriver under the key and gently lift the key top off (see fig 1.3).

note: don't forget to make a note of their position !! remove-key-cap.jpg keyboard-layout.gifWhen you have removed all the keys (except any keys youwish to avoid) use the compressed air (or vacuum cleaner) to remove anydust and debris from inside the keyboard.

Now is a good time to give the keys a proper clean, for bestresults clean each one individually (the patience thing again) with thecloth and cleaning fluid, when clean, wipe them over with the drycloth.

Before replacing the keys, take your lint free cloth anddampen it with your cleaning fluid (don't put the liquid directly onthe keyboard), give the surface of the keyboard a good wipe overensuring to clean as much as possible any keys that you haven'tremoved.

When the keyboard is nice and clean replace the keys according to your notes or if you have just removed the letter keys use fig 1.4 as a guide, to put the keys back on position the key in place and press gently but firmly until it clicks home.

After replacing all the keys give the keyboard a quick wipe over with your dry cloth and you have a nice clean keyboard.

Hope this will help !

Regard's

Keyboard removal

Generally, keyboards are the easiest thing to replace on a laptop except for memory.
Usually, there are either screws on the back that have little keyboard symbols next to them. If that is not the case, then you need to find a way to remove the little panel that is directly above the keyboard as the screws are probably under there.
Just a heads-up, doing any of this will void your warranty if you are still under it.
