If there happens to be an attachment, for get about it, I literally let it try to download a pdf for over 45 minutes and it still hadnt worked. I have another computer on the same network, same windows xp same explorer 7 I login to the same account and open and close e-mails like there is no problem at all. Any suggestions?

I lost my emails since I upgraded from windoows xp to windows 7

Features available through Yahoo! Mail include unlimited storage, the ability to view photos and videos from your inbox and the ability to send 50 files or 100MB worth of attachments in a single email.

You can also access Yahoo!'s instant messaging software from your inbox and check email on your mobile phone and other Internet-enabled devices.

Before signing up for Yahoo! mail, check its compatibility with your version of Internet Explorer.Standard Yahoo! Mail

Yahoo! Mail's standard interface works with Internet Explorer 7 and higher. However, Internet Explorer 7 users may be unable to use the reply bar, slideshows or Yahoo! Messenger from their inbox.

To access these features, use at least Internet Explorer 9. All Internet Explorer users must have Windows 7, XP or Vista to use the standard form of Yahoo! mail. Mac operating systems using Internet Explorer are not supported by the current version of Yahoo! Mail.
Older Option

Users who want to use Yahoo! Mail Classic will find it compatible with Internet Explorer 6, as well as newer versions of the browser.

Yahoo! announced to customers in July 2011 that it would soon stop supporting Internet Explorer 6. Yahoo! Mail Classic works with Windows 2000, XP and Vista, as well as Windows 7.

Yahoo! Mail Classic lacks many of the upgrades found in the current version of the email program.

Upgrades
While Yahoo! Mail supports older versions of Internet Explorer, the company recommends that users upgrade to the most current version.

Yahoo! says using the newest browser software provides more speed and added protection against viruses and software.
Enabling ActiveX

If you plan to use the current version of Yahoo! Mail on a Windows machine, you'll want to enable your computer's ActiveX controls so you can access all the features of the email program.

To do this, go to the "Tools" menu or the gear symbol in Internet Explorer, then select "Internet Options" and "Security."

Click on "Internet," then "Custom Level."
Scroll down to "Run ActiveX Controls and Plugins" and "Script ActiveX Controls Marked Safe for Scripting." Enable each of these options and save your settings.

Reboot Internet Explorer.

I want my old yahoo messenger back because when i downloaded your new yahoo messenger, my laptop suddenly has no audio, no sound, it happened to me thrice

  • Click the Start button, then click Control Panel.
  • Double-click "Add or Remove Programs" in Windows XP, or "Programs and Features" in Windows Vista and 7. If you do not see the appropriate option for your version of Windows, click "Classic View" in Windows XP and Vista or "View by: Small icons" in Windows 7.
  • Find Yahoo! Messenger on the list. Click on it, then click the "Remove" button if you are running Windows XP. If you are running Windows Vista or 7, right-click on Yahoo! Messenger and click "Uninstall."
  • Restart your computer and log back into Windows.
  • Visit the OldVersion.com link for Yahoo! Messenger. Click on the appropriate link to download the version that you would like. Version 7.0 is used for the directions in this article.
  • Double-click the downloaded file to begin installation. Read through the license agreement, click "I Agree" if you agree to the terms and click "Next."
  • Click "Browse" to select the destination folder for Yahoo! Messenger, or click "Next" to install it in the default location.
  • Double-click the Yahoo! Messenger icon on the desktop to launch the program.

Hello, I have changed to the new yahoo mail and i don't like it. Please indicate to me how I revcert to the old version.

Recently there was an option called "Return to Original Mail!" under the "Help" menu, but now it's no longer available and there seem to be no other options other than disabling the Firefox javascript from firefox settings.
Before you login, open Firefox click "Tools" and then "Options" and select "Content", from there, click "Disable Javascript" click "Apply" or "Ok" to save the changes made and restart your Firefox. Now to to Yahoo!Mail and login, once you are signed, you'll be prompted whether you would like to go to Yahoo! Mail classic or not, or you may be asked to enable Javascript to run the page, carefully check the warnings or message and do whatever you think would open the Mail Classic, if it's related to javascript, proceed without the Javascript, this will open your mail is Classic Mail (I have mentioned two example warnings because they both will show up or one of them will definitely show up). Now you are in Yahoo! Mail Classic version, and it's been set, means you have returned to Yahoo! Mail Classic. Whenever you login through another browser eg. Internet Explorer or Google Chrome, it will remain as it is now.
Note: This method doesn't work with Internet Explorer 8 and 9 and Google Chrome.
    Good Luck.
    Thanks for using FixYa.

    Cant open my yahoo messenger

If you haven't rebooted your computer in a while you may want to. Or, if on Windows go to your task manager (right click on your task bar, and choose "task manager" and see if there is a YahooMessenger.exe running under the "Processes" tab. If so highlight the YahooMessenger.exe entry and choose end process. After the process is terminated try to run your Yahoo Messenger again.

If that doesn't work try uninstalling and reinstalling the software. You can do this from your Windows control panel in the Add/Remove Programs applet (Windows XP) or Programs and Features (Vista and Windows 7)

then go to Yahoo.com and download their latest messenger.

If all else fails you can use the Yahoo Web messenger if you have an urgent need to be on immediately. To do this just go to http://webmessenger.yahoo.com/ and login from there.

Why cant I open my Yahoo mail box? it freezes up , When I log on to my Yahoo mail it freezes up and at bottom of screen it says dowmloading blank

Same problem here! Waiting for a solution...

I'm running Windows XP SP1 on an AMD chip (BIOS is old, about 2004). No support package higher than SP1 will take even though the Intel registry is set to 4. Hotmail works fine. Neither Yahoo Mail nor my personal Yahoo account ([email protected]) will show mail. They just give the current count of unopened mail, a white blank screen, then lockup (Ctrl-Alt-Del cures the lockup). All drivers are up-to-date with a driver program. All Windows updates are current, up to SP1. Yahoo Messenger is installed (but not used). Everything works except Yahoo Mail.

    Yahoo mail is VERY slow

I am a Computer Software Expert. I believe that Yahoo! has lately made silly mistakes in their Yahoo! Mail in software/hardware side. The Mail is extremely slow even I have a super computer. This problem is Yahoo! Mail's problem; it has nothing to do with your PC as anyone uses it will suffer nowadays. In the past, it was nice and fast. Now it is Yahoo! Garbage Mail, so they should change the name!
