Unresponsive buttons None of the buttons on my Sharp XL-MP130 are responding, neither on the actual unit or on the remote control. When I press the power button, the timer indicator light lights up solid, then flashes 4 or 5 times, then repeats the pattern. I cannot get any of my CD's out of the unit because no buttons respond... Have I put it into some sort of programming mode on accident or something? I've tried resetting it by pressing the tape pause button, the demo mode button and the tuning down button and nothing is working. I'm sad. I love my little stereo and I hope you can help me!!!!

I have the same problem except that my stereo shuts off and does the weird timer light on and then blinking thing. The stereo will play for about 3 minutes when I turn it on and then shuts off. I have tried clearing all settings as indicated in the manual but this did not work. I love this stereo! Can you help?

First, try unplugging the unit for a couple of hours. That should reset the internal microprocessor. If that fails, try pushing all of the buttons one at a time. If one of them is stuck, nothing will work properly. You should be able to feel the button working. Report back here with your results.

Sharp XL-MP130 CD Mini Audio System. Why does the standby light blink 4 short blinks and one long blink on my xlmp130 stereo

OK here it is right from Sharp's service center support.
The unit is reporting power surge and if the usual unplugging does not fix it then there is damage to the power unit. I mentioned that all fuses were OK but they still say that the fuses being intact does not eliminate the supply from damage

The flashing lights are operating from the low voltage part of the power supply but the main transformer is what is damaged. The buttons are operated from this transformer and as they do not respond then this is the area of damage to the supply. The unit will have to be taken to a service center.

If you are in Australia check a service centre near you from here

I need to find the code for my sharp xl-mp130 component system to make my universal remote work

U get the code, if any, for your Sharp from the manufacturer of your universal remote. Be prepared for limited functionality.

Better yet, get another OEM remote from Sharp - get your wallet ready!

I need the remote code for a Sharp 27F541. I tried the codes provided by Charte Comm for their universal remote and none of them work. Thanks.

Hello
The Universal remote code for Sharp are [01 and 02].

Four digit remote codes for sharp are

[0079- 0123- 0063- 0020- 0004- 0009- 0226- 0266- 0006- 0095- 0122]

  1. Press and hold the SETUP button until the red indicator stays on, then release the SETUP button.
  2. Press and release the desired Mode button (TV, VCR, etc.). The red indicator blinks, then stays lit.
  3. Enter the 4 digit code from the code tables. Note: after a valid code entry, the red indicator turns off. For an invalid code, the red indicator flashes.
  4. With your device on, press CHANNEL UP. If the device responds, no further programming is required. Note: If some buttons do not operate your device, try one of the other codes for your brand.

Hi! I'm a music teacher who just came back from summer vacation and plugged in my xl-mp130. It seems to be in sleep mode or something. There is a little red light that blinks just below the word...

i would do a hard reset to start and that is simply unplugging the unit for approx 5 mins than plugging it back in--a power surge or brownout can confuse the micro and a reset is all it needs sometimes--good luck!

My sharp XLMP 130 all of a sudden started blinking red four times and then one long one - nothing works??

The problem is with the "power on" relay (RL841) located on the power supply board. Unplug the unit and take off the side panel and top cover. Remove the screws to remove the CD changer. There is a small black rectangular relay just below where the AC cord is soldered onto the PC board. Carefully remove (actually break it off carefully and gently & throw away) the plastic top housing of the relay. Plug in the unit and with a pencil or stick, manually actuate the coil armature while pressing the power on button on the front of the unit. I can almost assure you your unit will return to normal operation. Put it all back together and you're done. The blinking red 4 times followed by a long pulse indicates a power failure. The start up capacitor had drained and couldn't provide enough voltage to pull the relay coil in all the way.

Unit will not come on, but timer button is blinking

Well, it thinks it's set to come on under Timer control.

Get the manual out (or go to retrevo.com, register and download it for free) and go to page 34 and cancel the timer.

Canceling the timer setting in the timer stand-by mode:
1 Press the CLOCK/TIMER button.
2 Within 10 seconds, press the or button to select
"ONCE" or "DAILY", and press the MEMORY/SET button.
3 Within 10 seconds, press the or button to select
"ONCE OFF" or "DAILY OFF", and press the MEMORY/SET button.
Timer will be canceled (the setting will not be canceled).

Remote's menu and input buttons, and television Input button not responding

well the problem sounds like it could be the IR sensor on the tv or somthing in that circut that is failing or the EPROM chip that controls : Vol up/down , Channel up/down , Power on/off ,Menu , Input selection , ect... is failing, thus this will trigger the protection circut to shut the tv down. this kind of a problem only gets worse and can dammage other components if not repaired soon so it will need testing to determine the exact cause
