TO NO MANUAL,

WHEN YOU DIAL A FAX NUMBER, AND IF YOU
HAVE DIALED IT CORRECT, YOU NEED TO
WAIT UNTIL YOU HEAR A COUPLE OR A FEW
DIFFERENT "CONNECTION" SOUNDS, AND
THE LAST SOUND IS THE FAX IS CONNECTED
TO THE FAX NUMBER DIALED SOUND.

IF I AM CORRECT, THE FIRST SOUND IS
A LOW TWEET LIKE SOUND, THE SECOND
SOUND IS A HIGH PITCH TWEET SOUND,
AND THE THIRD OR FOURTH SOUND IS
THE FAX SOUND, WHICH IS A SORT OF
STATIC-LIKE WHISTLING SOUND.

WHEN YOU HEAR THE FAX SOUND, THAT
IS WHEN YOU PRESS THE SEND FAXCIMILE
BUTTON.

I HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM WITH A FAX
MACHINE ABOUT FOUR YEARS AGO.

IF THE FOREMENTIONED INFORMATION
DOES NOT HELP, YOU MAY WANT TO
RECONFIGURE YOUR FAX SEND AND
RECEIVE SETTINGS. REFER TO YOUR
OWNER'S MANUAL FOR TECHNICAL
DATA.

GOOD LUCK.

Why won't the fax work?

My recommendation would be to hit the speaker button when sending a fax to hear why your fax wont go through.

When you hit speaker you should have a clean dial tone, then when you start dialing and the tone stops make sure you don't have any static or noise on the line.

There are several reasons you might get a NG error. One is the fax line you're trying to send to is busy. Maybe it's a phone line not a fax you're trying to send to. Maybe you need to dial a 1 or 0 for long distance, maybe your fax line has noise on it.

Using the speaker can help troubleshoot what the problem is.

A fax machine is just a big ol' telephone answering machine

There is no mystery, seriously. You send a fax exactly the same way as you make a phone call; instead of talking to a person, your fax machine talks to another fax machine. Clicks, squeals, buzz sounds.

If it says it's busy, well, it's busy
If it doesn't answer, it's not set to AUTO RECEIVE
If it says OFF HOOK another device is using YOUR phone line.
If you don't hear a dial tone when you press the HOOK or MONITOR key, the phone line is dead. Check the line with a regular phone.

If a dial tone sounds weird, it is a DIGITAL phone line. You need an ANALOG or regular phone line.

ALL FAX MACHINES ARE ANALOG DEVICES AND WILL NOT WORK RELIABLY ON A DIGITAL SYSTEM OR A COMPUTER....Magic Jack, Vonage, etc. are DIGITAL PHONE SYSTEMS. Don't believe what the Vendor tells you. They are for designed for VOICE GRADE PHONE CALLS ONLY.

The settings in your fax machine were designed by people who are a lot smarter and make more money than us. DON"T MESS WITH THE PARAMETERS.

It's all that SIMPLE !!

Fax receipt code shows a status code of 0050, What does that mean ?

It means there is no dial tone on the fax line, is the rj11 plugged in properly [ (Line) on the copier, not he one labeled as (TEL) ], is the telephone patch defective, or you have an active phone on the wall jack, (test it it with an ordinary phone), or the receiving party is busy, try later, or try a different nunber.

Can not receive or send faxes???

If your fax machine was working before this could be a line problem. Call your fax number with your cell phone or another phone. If you get a message phone the phone company or it just rings busy its probably a line problem. Another check is to plug your hand set into the wall outlet jack, you should hear the dial tone. If there is no dial tone its also a line problem. Or just try pluging your fax machine in at another location, if it works there you know its a line problem. If its still not working its going to be one of the boards inside the fax machine. Good luck.

I have a Brother mfc 290c. My problem is it won't send faxes, it keeps saying "no response, busy" I have a duet line. I have tried every combination in the book but still can't seem to find the solutions...

Hello,
If you get the "busy/no response" message it is because the fax machine does not get a response when it tries to dial out.
Make sure you have a dial tone by pressing the "hook" button. If you do not have a dial tone, make sure the phone line is connected to LINE on the machine.
If you have a dial tone, try dialing the fax number. If you hear a recording, there is a problem with the line.
One of these two possibilities is causing the problem.
Thanks,
Pat

No dial tone when pressing hook fax is returned

The only thing that could stop you from sending a fax or not get a dial tone, would be the connection to the phone line. Make sure the telephone wire is plugged into the line jack (not ext jack) and should go straight to the wall, without splitters or extensions. If you still cannot send a fax, try another wire or jack

When I hit hook to send a fax I hear a click but I get no dial tone and the same on receiving a fax MP830

You only hit hook to hear the dial tone or use the machine like a speaker phone. To send a fax you press fax start. If you can't hear a dial tone when you press hook, there is something wrong with the phone line connection, or it's plugged in to the wrong plug on the machine. The phone line goes into the one marked with an L, the other with the pic. of a phone is for an additional telephone.

Status 50 on a fax estudio 45

the number is busy. Try pressing the monitor button and listening for a dial tone. No dial tone means your phone line is not working. If you have dial tone, dial the number you wish to fax and listen to see if it picks up. If you get a busy signal, or hear someone answer, that is why it's not working. If you hear the fax tones, press start and send your document. This is a way to fax that allows you to hear the whole process.

We can't send or received faxes

Just a suggestion. This effect can happen if you have plugged the line cord into the tel jack instead of line jack.
