No sound with a Sony VAIO pcv-RZ44G after installing new webcam (Logitech Sphere/Orb MP) and Skype

  • Anonymous Mar 26, 2010

Yes, I get a picture, video, & full streaming video with Logitech's Video Software & Skype. Just no sound at all through the speakers after installing the latest drivers for my Soundblaster Audigy ES soundcard & the latest & correct drivers for my new Logitech Orb/Sphere MP. It was working last week, it just stopped when I updated my system to the latest drivers. Is there an easy way to disable the Audigy's ability to record and keep it's ability to play sounds while allowing the Orb cam to be the *only* way to record? I have a feeling this is the root of the problem. Thanks!

What OS do you have? XP, Vista, Windows 7? If you know what service pack you have would also be very helpful

I want to upgrade the mother board in my Vaio PCV-RZ44G Desktop so that I can run Windows 8. What board forms are compatible and is an Intel I3 or I5 CPU better?

You would be better off applying the money to a new computer. You are opening "Pandora's Box" . You will end up with a old case with ALL new components. That may or may not work, A.K.A., "pain and heartache".

I have a Sony VAIO model VGN CR420E. After a serious virus infection my repair people emoved Vista and installed Windows 7. I then installed Skype and a Logitech C260 webcam. When I start Skype, my video...

Sounds like a possible driver issue.
Go to Sony's support site and download the latest drivers for your Camera, namely the WebCam Companion software to ensure you have the proper drivers for your integrated webcam.

A restart is usually needed after the installation.
Test the software to ensure you actually get proper video from the webcam after driver installation.
Test it out on Skype if all goes well.

I'm having problems with the Vaio Recovery Wizard. It gives me a message saying VAIO Recovery Wizard cannot find the recovery partition. Restart your computer

That to me means that the partition on the hard drive is no longer there or corrupt.
You need to place your rescue disc in the DVD drive and boot from that.
Hope that helps.

Failing install of PCI SATA Drive

You need to load the SATA Controller driver for the XP install to access the HDD.

The driver will need to be downloaded and extracted to a floppy diskette, then loaded during the XP install.

If your system doesn't have a floppy drive, you'll either need a USB floppy drive or create a slipstreamed XP CD with the driver added to the CD.
