Sounds like a protection circuit kicking on and off, and it will have to be troubleshot to isolate and replace the faulty circuit, whatever it may be. If you have an extended warranty, try to get it fixed for free. If not, make sure you get an estimate before you pay to have it fixed. Oftentimes the cost of repair will exceeed the cost of a new one, as fast as prices keep coming down these days.

When I turn monitor on, it stays on only 2 seconds, then goes dark. When I turn the monitor on, it lights for another two seconds, then goes dark. It is a MAG Innovision TCO 03 display. Thank you!

It could be two things. 1). The video card is set to a resolution the monitor does not support. 2). The monitor's power supply is bad. You can try to boot into rescue (or "safe") mode, and adjust the video card to a resolution the monitor supports. OR, power supplies usually go bad because capacitors bulge or otherwise go bad. Most monitor power supplies are hard to get, so people typically repair them. If you disassemble the monitor shell, you can see the power supply (where the AC cord goes). You can look at the metallic, cylindrical looking things with minus signs down one side, and if they look bulged on top, you can replace them. You can get replacements at mouser.com.

I have a dell studio 540 desktop, I need to restore to factory settings but my monitor will not stay open. It opens for a few seconds then immediately goes into power saver mode and turns off, how can

I see two things here, but need clarification;

1) Monitor goes to Power Saver Mode, then turns -> OFF?

Sure that monitor didn't go into Standby Mode?

2) Why are you performing a restore back to factory settings?
Pick up a virus?

Primer;
The monitor receives a signal. A video signal. The video signal comes from the computer.

If the monitor is NOT receiving a video signal, then the monitor will state No Signal.
This is for older monitors.

New monitors do not state No Signal anymore.
It's Power Saver Mode, or Sleep Mode.

If the monitor is truly OFF, the Power On button will Not be lit up.
Or the Power On LED light on the monitor.

Monitor power on LED is lit, or Power On button is lit?

Monitor is not receiving a video signal;

Use a monitor cable from a KNOWN to be working monitor, for a temporary test.
OR,
Use a Known to be working monitor, and it's monitor cable.

Need to find out if monitor cable is good.

Monitor cable checks out good?

Then problem is computer.

The two leading issues with desktop computer failure, is;

1) Computer is dirty inside
2) Power Supply inside computer is bad.

PL 9 19" CRT Monitor: my mag innovision lt716s 700p monitor screen keeps...

Hello,

The picture board on your monitor is bad, since it goes off after few seconds and the power led or button is on, it means the picture board of your monitor has developed fault.

The best thing for you to do now is to take the monitor to a local repairer or service center within your vicinity to help with the replacement of the picture board because the fault is not something you can fix yourself, in order not to complicate issues.

Take care.

Mag Innovision LT576S monitor goes blank after 2 seconds

I would think that the monitor is the issue, especialy that in safe mode it still does not function properly!

The fault with the monitor may be in the scan amplifier circuits, and or the power supply.

When I used to service these, I found many times that there were defective electrolytic capacitors in the scan amplifier sections and the power supply that gave problems.

This type of repair is time consuming, and when out of warranty it may not be worth the cost.

I would be seriously considering an LCD monitor.

Monitor goes blank less than a second after turning on.

Beautiful screen, lasts about for a few minutes, goes black. Power button still green. If I turn it off, and then back on, it works again for a while. Any ideas?
