Blackberry 7290 - Will not trun on

Have not used my Blackberry for quite a while. Went to turn it on and a red light flashes on top. The battery does not charge and red light just keeps flashing. Thought I may have scrambled battery so bought a new battery. Same thing happens. Red light flashes but will not charge or switch on. Help!!!

    hi thre i get an error message :device errrr 77 reset ,i click on reset but nothing happens same error pops up again pls assist on how to fix this

    plug in the charger red light comes on for 5 sec goes out and not charging

If you have a friend that has a BlackBerry with the same model as yours, you may borrow the battery and try it on your handheld. If the same problem occur, then send your BlackBerry to the authorized repair station.

Download BB 7290 firmware... run apploader
As usual copy 7290 firmware folder from C:/program files/common files/research in motion/.............. and paste in drive C:/
plugged in USB Cable without battery
It started erasing.... after it finished the soft was waiting for JVM device bla bla bla....
I now disconnected fone and this time connected fone with battery... 2 my surprise it started loading application and it finished updating my device..

Went to wipe phone
The device should turn on even without the SIM card. I assume that you have done a "wipe handheld" action from the security options menu.

First try to take the battery out, leave it outside for 15 seconds and then put it back. In case this does not resolve the problem, you will have to relad the software using the desktop manager and application loader

How to unlock black berry 7290
The first thing you can try is to wipe the applications and operating system from the device. This will result in lost information, but at this point you won't be able to get any data from it anyway because it isn't turning on. You can follow the steps in the links below. This requires you to wipe the applications, then release the operating system back on to the device:

Hi 7290 problems
yes.... you battery (or chgarger) is either faulty or the unit has been damaged. Take it to a store, and ask them to insert a different battery. If that does not work, lets hope you still have warranty remaining on it.
