Hello. I recommend that you forget the repair for two reasons. 1. Pricey. 2. You still have a 5 year old set with no warranty. In the last five years, the tv technology has come so far. The HD is fabulous. The new sets cost less to operate and they are so much better than they were five years ago. Joe

My ten year old sony plasma tv has vertical herring bone lines no picture just color lines. Is my picture tube gone.

If its 10 years old boards and or parts will likely not be available--average life on Plasma and LCD sets is 3-5 years.

I would retire it--recycle it and buy a new set.

Hello, My tv is about 5yrs old.We heard a loud

Hi,
You need to replace Y main board & buffer, which will cost you around $600-700. Since the TV is five years it will be better to go with new, and it won't be worth enough to spend $700 for old TV.

Hope this helps.

I turn on my 50PF9956 get sound but no picture. For 2 weeks before it started taking longer to get the picture. I tried the menu with nothing

The plasma picture tube technology lasts only 24 months before it burns itself out, requiring a new
plasma picture tube. The LCD and LED technologies do not suffer from this short life span.
If your Philips 50PF9956 is over 2 years old, you've got all the use your plasma can give.
Fix: new plasma display - the electronics controlling the plasma display are most likely fine - just
like the electronics providing audio to the speakers. Your set's only problem is a burnt-out display.

Have a plasma samsung hpt5054 i have sound no picture is it worth fixing thanks

On a plasma that usually means a problem in the power sections. You should be able to get an estimate from a repair shop or Samsung repair depot. On that size of tv it should be cheaper to repair than replace unless it is several years old. Usually on a smaller tv just out of warrenty the cost to repair is worth more than just going out and buying a new tv.

As long as you know your replacement cost and get an estimate you will come out on top.

Panasonic Plasma picture losing 50% of the screen!

it is likely the power supply board in the back of the tv. these are a huge problem. I fixed mine for $15 by taking it apart and taking the board to a repair shop. new cap on the board fixed it.

Problems

Its a hardware problem. If its an expensive TV it may be worth getting someone to look at it and get it fixed. If its a cheaper one better off buying a new one.
