Replacement filter basket for Michael Graves coffee maker - the tiny tab broke off the handle and now we can't remove the basket to dump the coffee grounds. Where do I get a new coffee basket

Cleaning a coffee maker is simple.
Fill the carafe with 9-10 cups of Water and 1 cup drain cleaner.
Put a paper filter in the basket. Run the cycle. You will see lots of garbage in the carafe. Repeat with the same water.
Next dump the water into the sink and refill the carafe with fresh water.
Run again, several times to flush out the acid. remove the basket and scrub it clean. Your coffee maker should run like new.

Hi Julie - This is likely a Target Michael Graves product . Generally , parts for the Target Graves products are not sold . I am not familair with the size of the whistler you need . The only Michael Graves replacement kettle whistle available is the Alessi version .

If water is leaking from the very bottom of the machine, your unit is broke and you need to call Cuisinart. If it is just overflowing the caraffe/basket:
The two most common reasons for overflow or underflow have to do with the carafe lid and the filter basket - they key to smooth flow with this coffee maker is making sure the filter basket and carafe lid are making the proper contact with each other so that the center knob on the carafe lid pushes slightly up on the filter basket spring. Make sure the carafe lid is completely closed. Make sure the filter basket is pushed all the way down. Make sure you are not using the gold tone filter and a paper filter at the same time. For some reason, I get better results when the handle of the carafe is resting against the right side wall. If everything is in place, I would suspect a problem with either the filter basket being clogged or some problem with the carafe lid - call Cuisinart as they should be able to order these parts for you.

After searching for the replacement basket on web took whole coffee maker back to jcp and they replaced the 12cup coffee maker with a new item.

Put the handle to the basket, that holds the coffee grounds toward the front.  If it is not facing front it will pop open.

It sounds like the solenoid is not discharging after a coffee is made, try back washing machine with purocaff. If the soap comes out of the small pipe on the right and dumps into the drain tray you are back in business if not you might to clear the pipe.

COFFEE PREPARATION PROCEDURES
1) Place filter into brew basket.
2) Put the proper amount of coffee into the filter.
3) Slide the brew basket into holder.
4) Place empty decanter on warmer located directly under the brew basket and turn corresponding warmer switch ON.
5) Pour decanter of fresh water through pour-in opening at top of brewer.
6) Hot water will be delivered through the sprayhead. This distributes the hot water evenly over the coffee bed within the brew basket. The coffee will drain from brew basket into the container below.
7) Red light indicates warmer is ON.
8) Before brewing next pot, remove brew basket from brew rails and dump filter into waste basket.

No one has just the individual part, but you can get the whole brew basket with the part included on Cuinart's website, or by calling them.

Sounds like you might have coffee oil build up. I would suggest soaking the Brew Head Screen and filter holder in a coffee oil remover by www.urnex.com or dezcal. Remove the screw if your filter basket has one. For home use it would be good to clean this every week or so. You can email me for more info: [email protected]. I just called Cuisinart and they will send me another brew basket for my DCC-100 (it has a Brew Pause valve also) for $9.14 (part + S&H). Did you try to contact Cuisinart?
