It may simply need cleaning and lubricating. To do that, you will need to disassemble the unit, remove the motor, and check that it turns freely. If not, you can try some light oil on the bearings. Use sewing machine oil....
If the autoloader is in ready state, reboot the PC. Check if system manager displays the autoloader drives and printer. Check the firewire cable. It's easy to plug it in backwards. The firewire card can get damaged if it was plugged in backwards.
R U sure the firmware update was the correct update and that it installed successfully? Check in the firmware part of the burning program to obtain a list of the currently installed firmware.
I have two of these Quantum SuperLoader 3 (with LTO3 drives) and one does keep giving me the same hassle. I haven't figured out how to fix this, but I've gotten past the error: disconnect the autoloader from the host computer (i.e. or stop rsm, mtx, or whatever controlling sofware you use), reboot the autoloader, get the tape out of the drive (e.g. move command from the autoloader's console or web interface), insert a cleaning tape (a few times), reconnect everything (i.e. start back up your controlling service).

Hook a VGA monitor, keyboard and mouse up to it. Then turn it on to see if it's booting into Windows or even into the BIOS. If it's booting into Windows, then download your autoloader firmware from Rimage.com (click the support link, then your model, download the autoloader firmware) -- then unzip it somewhere on your Rimage and use Gemini Utilities to update the firmware in the autoloader. Then restart the computer and see if you still see the same message.
The printer being recognized is tied very closely to the autoloader firmware working. Also, it helps to make sure the printer's switch is set to the position marked for Transport.
My thoughts is that one if not a couple of the PC boards inside is cracked or broke. More than likely you broke the inverter power board which lights up your display. May be a time for a new laptop. Would cost more to repair than to buy you an new laptop. My thoughts is you may find another one on E-bay that has some minor issues or in need of a hard drive and you could take the hard drive out of yours and put it in the new/used one. if i read this right, when you power up the laptop you get fan spin but no display ?, if you just get fan spin and the green power light and nothing else the you have a motherboard failure, if you get LED activity and it seems to be working but you only have no display the its more likely LCD failure, if you DO get activity try this : power off the system, press power button while holding down the D key, this will run the LCD BIST SELF TEST which will run through full colour screens if fails this test you will et a beep code, please bear in mind you will only be able to run that test if you get LED activity, if you dont have activity then the motherboard needs replacing
The magnatron (heating element) is located in the cavity behind the control. If it's leaking microwaves onto the electronics, this will occur. This means the Mag should be replaced and a radiation test run on unit.
