The HP PSC prompts you to align cartridges every time you install or
replace a print cartridge. Aligning the cartridges ensures high-quality
output.
To align the print cartridges when prompted:
Press Enter on the front panel. A page of patterns is printed. The cartridges are aligned correctly. Recycle or discard the page.
To align the cartridges at any other time:
Press Setup.
Press 5, then press 2.
This selects Maintenance, and then selects Align Print Cartridges.

Once you replace a cartridge on a 2210 ya page prints and you must put that page on the scanner window and then press enter. Your computer will go through a calibration to align the print head. once this is done you can throw away the paper and printing will be normal
I topped off the ink and pressed enter and set up at the same time...I didn't have to do the page alignment again and my copies seemed pretty good. Thank you to the site for the tips!!! Happy Day connien2003
It Does keep asking if it fails to get it right, usually it fails to get scan of alignment page completed correctly because it fails to see one of the colours printed on its alignment page correctly,
I would guess that you should change colour cartridge as well (these I have seen deplete themselves trying print black when black ink is not present.
There is also a way of telling your printer to forget about alignment would you like to know how......Press and hold the Setup button, and then press Options (or Copy Options ).
Here is a link to how an alignment page should look and HP answers to your problem, please rate my solution for me.
