My HK 3380 doesn`t turn on...

When i turn my HK 3380 on, the on/off button goes blue but the amplifier doesn`t turn on???

no the display doesn`t light up at all, it`s just the on/off button....and the relay does not click in...

the amplifier is only 2-3 years old, but i`ve opened it and there is not one sign of dust or dirt...

Has anything inside been cleaned since you obtained this -- like last century?

I say this with the certainty that dust and particulate matter can cause a host of problems from receive gang units to switches and the like.

If you are handy, you can:
1) unplug the unit.
2) unscrew cowl/cover
3) remove cowl/cover
4) Look in area where switch is. Is there dirt? Dust?
4.1) If yes, use old clean (paint) brush and vaccum to clean.

Does the display light up? Try other inputs? Is the speaker output set right? Can you run a test tone? Do you hear the speaker relay click a few seconds after turn on?

If the display does not turn on, then you have a power problem. The unit is not completely turning on. Since you opened up the unit, give it a sniff test to see if there is any burnt odor inside the unit. Check the fuses also. Have a look at the transformer board. It may have several fusible resistors sitting high on the board. If they burn open, there is no power to the display/cpu board.

No, phones don't have an infra-red transmitter. That would only work if the HK was connected to wifi and HK made an app and the internal circuity and logic to accept it.

Contact HK direct and buy a new remote.

My volume is like backwards it's displaying -dB.. -10 is the highest -80 lowest but sounds really bad this happened before don't remember how to fix

If it sounds bad at all volume levels something is wrong with the amplifier section of receiver.

Amplifier doesnt turn on at all

The Signature line was always an HK high end line. If it won't turn on at all, there may be a power supply issue. If it turns on, but you have no sound, your amplifier may have DC Offset, meaning a damaged amplifier.

It seems that one (or both) of the power amps are defective. To have a quick check, take a meter, sett it on the DC voltage and measure the outputs, one by one (with no speaker attached and no signal) for the short time when the unit stays on. If you have high DC voltage on the outputs (one or both) this means that channel(s) needs repairs (most likely the power transistors are blown). If one of the paired transistors is gone you need to replace both of them anyway.

Hello Randy,
There are two options here: first, the power button is amber but unit still won't go. In this case try a 'factory reset' as per manual. If this won't work, it seems that the processor is gone (located on the display board) so you have to bring your unit into a authorized shop for repairs. Secondly, it might be just matter of some blown fuses which are located inside the unit on the transformer board. If after replacing (if they're blown) the unit still won't work or keeps blowing the new fuses, follow the first advice, meaning you have to bring the receiver to a service. To access the fuses, you have to remove the top cover.I wish you luck

It looks more likely to have a problem with one of the relays or a 'cold' connection inside the unit.

Help me to resolve a problem with my harman Kardon HK 3380

I'm having the same problem only difference is I baugh my product new, i love my reciver when it works I'm convinced the product is built like everything else these days cheap with no pride, designed to malfunction so hard working Americans like myself pull out of pocket to replace the product being a different brand or what, cuz large corporations repeatedly screw the little man time and time again for years and believe me folks it's only gonna get worse if the little man sits back and does nothing.. I personally do NOT recommend this product costumer service with this product also burns my as# it's a waste of time on your behalf.. Thanks for reading hope to hear from many of you.
