Hi. Here are the steps you need to do to send a scanned document/image using your default email application. Place your orinal document/image on the printer. Using the Productivity Studio software, click email, select the scan type (photo, several photos or document). Click start. Click create email to attach the file to the email message. Hope this helps. There's also a PDF file User Guide you can download from the Lexmark website for your reference. Just click on this link: http://bit.ly/9gZV0u . Click on the 9500 Series All-In-One User's Guide found below the page. Download the PDF file. Refer to Scanning page for concerns about scanning. Good luck!

I get e-mails but can not send it from my computer with Microsoft

Your Internet Service Provider (ISP) might be blocking outgoing mail from your email client. You may need to use your ISP's mail server as your outgoing email server and or authenticate your outgoing emails with your ISP's email filtering software. I had the same problem a few years back when my ISP (AT&T) setup up some restrictions for outgoing email. I had to register my non AT&T email address with AT&T's email filter and configure my Outlook to use AT&T's outgoing email server. If you have a laptop the simple way to test if it is your ISP blocking your outgoing emails is to take your laptop to a public wi-fi and see if you can send mail there.

I tried the scan to email feature of lexmark x544. I get an error message on the SMTP gateway. Is SMTP gateway the same as incoming and outgoing server?

SMTP is the outgoing mail server. If you're getting a error on the smtp gateway, please verify with email provider and check what is the correct outgoing mail server

I CANNOT OPEN OR SEND EMAILS

  1. Cannot send email but able to receive
Typically, POP based email accounts have the same address for incoming and outgoing email servers. However, sometimes the email service provider might have a different outgoing email server which has a different username and password (next point). Please check with your provider for details if you cannot send email but can receive. Is the outgoing email server address correct?
The outgoing email server (SMTP) address needs to be correct for you to send messages from the account. You can find this information in the email you have received from your web host.

The outgoing email server address would typically be based on your web site's address, unless the server has been configured differently. Thus, if your web site's URL is www.my-web-site.com, the outgoing email server address would be either my-web-site.com or mail.my-web-site.com (substitute my-web-site.com with your actual domain name).

Cannot send email

  • check the mail server settings on your pc are the same as those on your ISP's helpscreen 'setting up email'
  • disable any antivirus scanning of email.
1 it does nothing that is not already done by the resident scanner
2 it introduces timing delays that time out mail servers when scanning incoming or outgoing mail, google "email scanning redundant"
  • if Outlook express, check for .dbx corruption, google "outlook express database corrupt"
  • make sure the 'sent items' folder is empty,
not a solution things to check ~75% chance of fix

Sending email

Hi,

Check the outgoing server authentication box in Tools / Options / Accounts / Advance Settings.

Your ISP / Email provider may require your outgoing mail / smtp to authenticate with a username and password prior to allowing the transfer of the mail.

What version of Outlook are you using?
