Hello there.
I am interested in finding out the cause for the rust spots appearing on the front of the doors of my Kenmore Frostless refrigerator. It's about 15 years old and appears to be working well otherwise. Last serviced about 2 years ago.
Please post and e-mail me ([email protected]) your thoughts. Thank you.
Its what we in the business call "refrigerator cancer" they are rusting form the inside out. there is not repairing them and not worth the cost of replacing, you can take them off and spray them you might get a little time outta them. reason it happens is the insulation used years ago was fiberglass and would trap moisture between door and liner, eventually rusting through.. new refrigs are insulated with blown in poly-styrene. they don't hold moisture.

We have a 15 year old Kenmore Side by Side frost free refrigerator and it has rust spots all over the front of the doors. There is also a bit of rusty water that leaks from the side with the ice maker. It is a Kenmore Frostless Coldspot.
Any suggestions?
We have a Kenmore side by side 8 yrs. old rust spots popping out all over the front and sides . Larger rust spots under the water and Ice despencer . I have never seen this before ! Sears is not the store it use to be . Model M59782
I have the same problem! Sorry to here that this is terminal! Do you think that Kenmore can help me out???

I have the same problem and I know of two others since that have the same problem with the regerator. The gasket for the water dispenser I think hold water and causes it to rust from the inside out just below the dispenser. Sears says it is cosmetic and they will not fix it. Fridge is 10years old now but this was happening about 6 years ago.
How do I fix the lack insulation to stop the rusting
