Cracked screen my acer aspire one screen is cracked, I have taken it out and I'm confused about replacing it. The model # is zg5 what size of screen do I need? 8.9? should replace it with any certain type? also, the parts sites keep saying with out converter. Do I need to replace converter and where is it located? thanks for your help in advance

Take a look on Amazon for the screen and then google the term "disassemble Acer Aspire V5-571P. There are most likely videos showing how to do this.

Also a few people selling fully working ZG5's for in the mid $40 range... might as well try to just buy a newish one on ebay.
There is one listed with a broken screen for $46, even if the screen is busted the motherboard should be intact.

You're going to need to boot it from the Windows XP installation disk, which means if you don't have a CD drive you'll need to get an external CD-ROM drive. This will fix the problem.

either the onbaord graphics card is faulty, or your lcd screen is faulty.

try to plug a vga cable to it and send signal to the monitor/tv screen, is that works fine then its your lcd. if it doesnt then its the on board graohics card

You need to buy a replacement. Ebay would be my bet.

Here is another thing you can try. Unplug the power cord, and then remove the battery. Press the "Start" button and hold for 5 seconds. Replace the battery back into the computer and plug in the power cord. Start the machine and see if the low battery message still comes up. Sometimes the program that monitors the battery status gets confused. Doing the above should straighten it out. The Acer should start up and the AC power light should be lit. Look down in your task bar for the battery Icon or go to Battery Status in Control Panel and see if it shows that the battery is charging. Even newer batteries can go bad (rare) but if this is the case and a cell has shorted out in the battery, then your only recourse is exchange under warranty.

Do you have the exact model number for it? If its the one i believe you are referring to their are many of them available on the net for about 100$ I believe its a 8.9" screen.

and choose you OS and all the drivers you need including your wireless driver :-)
