How do I determine if the air tower assembly motor is not working?

To verify that the damper door is broken, remove the light shield and rear light bulb from the top of the refrigerator. Enter the factory diagnostic mode by pushing all four temperature control buttons at the same time and start the damper motor test: set the freezer control to 1 (FZ 1) and fresh food control to 0 (FF 0) . Press any other button, such as Custom Cool or Filter Reset to start the damper test cycle. Now, shine a flashlight through right hand side opening of the light assembly so you can see the movement of damper door. If'n it don't move, well, come git you a new and improved (ha!) damper door kit.
Oh, by the way: to exit test mode, do FZ 1 and FF 6.

Everything on top shelf of fridge freezes even on lowest temperature

you should send model number,if you have a damper control in your model most likely this is the problem, all that happens is cold air blows over from the freezer from the evaporator fan and blows through the top section of the fridge side,if the damper door isn't closing all the way it will cause freezing in the fridge section.

I have a kenmore side by side. FF side too cold. Replaced t-stat and defrost timer. All settings and air flow set right. FF still too cold. T-stat set all the way down . Should be at 3 or 4

You need to provide a model number in order to look over the parts list and see what type of auto damper your model has. There are ways to test an auto damper to see if it opens and close properly. An auto damper can be electrical or mechanical. Kenmore model numbers look like this example=> 321.2345789 and can be found artound the fresh food compartment door frame.

1 Turn power off to refrigerator.
2 Open the fresh food sections door and remove all items on top shelf.
3 Adjust the fresh food control to its coldest position.
4 Remove the light shield by pulling down on the back corners of the cover and then slide the cover forward.
5 Remove the edge sealing device, radiant shield supporting screws at the back bottom center of the control housing mounting screw at back, bottom center of the control housing. Slide the control housing to the right and lower the housing.
6 Disconnect the temperature control housing from electric quick disconnect.
7 Remove the temperature control housing from the refrigerator and then place on a
flat work surface.
8 Remove the auto damper control rod retainer, control rod and the slide control
gear from the auto damper control.
9 Now turn the control housing over.
10 Remove the two auto damper mounting screws, then remove the auto damper from the control housing.
11 Mark the auto damper rod about 1/4 in. from and away from the housing.
12 Uncoil the auto damper capillary tube at about 4 in.'s
13 Submerge into a glass of ice (not water). then watch for door to move to the closed
position.
14 Remove from ice and warm capillary tube with your hand. Then watch door for an opposite reaction.
15 If no movement is detected, replace the control. 61005971 Damper Control Assembly

The above is only a demostration of how to test a refrigerator with an auto that uses a capillary tube to open and close the damper. Your refrigerator will need to be identified by the correct model number to let you know what type of auto damper your model has, Post your model number and I will tell you what you will need to test yours, Thanks Sea Breeze

Frig too warm on top, too cold on bottom

inside the fridge section you have a fan damper assy.if you go here you can see it
http://www.repairclinic.com/PartDetail/Damper/WR49X10091/1055112
part number WR49X10091,the cold air comes through the damper and the fan in it blows the cold around into the fridge section, warm air rises so this is why it's warm on top and colder on the bottom.i just installed this part for a customer, unplug the machine or shut it down, remove the 4 screws that hold the top light assy. on drop it down, unplug the wire harness, pop off the cover to the water filter, remove the top two shelves then pop off the middle cover on the back wall, this allows you to remove the two screws that are behind it,remove all screws and remove the damper fan assy.look at the instructions, the one i worked on i had to remove the gasket that's on the freezer wall side and replace it with the fat gasket in the box and then put it back together again,it took me around 35 minutes to do the job.hope this helps you out

I have an Amana ARB2217C bottom freezer with working lights, fan, and freezer. But the refrigerator doesn't seem to want to cool. I think it stopped a couple of days ago.I've turned the thermostat from...

The problem has to be in the damper control inside the refrigerator section.

Disconnect the refrigerator from power and remove the food from the top shelf. The damper control is in the box near the top of the refrigerator section behind the temperature control knob.

Remove the knob and cover until you can access the damper control. You can prop the damper control open with a pencil or something to make the refrigerator work until you get a part if you need to. Here is the part you need.

To install:

  1. Position the damper assembly in the vehicle.

    NOTE

Be aware of the direction of the damper mounting base so that the small hole dot on it is toward the front inside of the vehicle,

  2. Loosely install the flange nuts on the top of the damper.
  3. Loosely install the flange bolt on the bottom of the damper.
  4. Raise the suspension with a floor jack to load it with the vehicles weight before tightening the nuts and bolt.

How do i replace the front and rear strut/shocks on 97 dodge avenger?

Always a good idea to start by disconnecting battery. For front, raise it up, remove the wheel & sway bar connector from the dampner fork. You have to remove both the upper pinch bolt and the lower damper through bolt. You have to go under the hood to remove the (3) upper strut bolts, just dont remove the big spring center nut. With both the top and bottom removed, you should be able to slide the strut out. Then you can r & r the coil spring assy, just keep everything in the same position as it was removed.
The rears, you have to jack up and block the car because you are going to also have to take the weight off of the axle by jacking it up. Of course remove the wheel- You have to go inside the car because the top mouning nuts are under the ft rear package shelf covers.will have to remove speakers & top package shelf & the covers over the nuts (2 of them). (you do have the car blocked & the axle slightly raised at this point dont you? cause you dont want to remove these nuts until you do . Now you can remove the lower strut mounts and slide it out. Again, you will have to r/r the coil spring assy with a spring compresser & be sure to put things back in the same orientation. hope this helps, rick
