, the message you are getting is "amp guard". This is the mesage it will display when a short in a speaker wire or speaker with low impedence is hooked to the internal amp and sends it into protect mode, shutting down the amplifier section while the rest of the unit continues to work.

AMP GUARD

Amp guard is a protection circuit built o protect the output from short circuits. Please check your speaker wiring for shorting. Once cleared your system should work fine.

THE CLARION CX609 WONT FIT IN MY 2001 CROWN VIC. ANY SUGGESTIONS BESIDES BUYING A DIFFERENT RECEIVER. WILLING BUT REALLY DONT WANNA

That is going to be a touch install if memory serves as your vehicle is not double din. Much easier to sell that and get a single din radio and install kit.

Clarion cx609 after my lg rumor 2 pairs with radio and I am listening to another source 30 sec later the Bluetooth audio turns on for my lg rumor . I never tried to pair it for bluetooth audio.

I had this same problem; here's what I think is happening. You have several bluetooth "profiles" on your phone; one of which allows for music streaming (A2DP) through BT. If this profile is enabled on your phone, then the radio "senses" that you've got a new source hooked up, that being your phone's music player. It's similar to if you're listening to the radio on the CX609 and then plug in your iPod--the radio senses a new source and swaps to it. If you disable the A2DP profile (assuming you don't use your phone for streaming music through your CX-609), and only leave the headset and/or handsfree profiles active, the radio WILL NOT switch to bluetooth mode. I did this on my Blackberry Tour and I now can enjoy my radio much more than when I had to swap back to the radio 30 seconds after I turned the key. Hope this helps!!!

How do you connect a bluetooth phone to a clarion cx609

You can download the detailed instruction for this radio here;
http://www.clarion.com/us/en/support/product_manuals_2/index.html?pdf='../../../../../../MungoBlobs/243/878/CX609_ENG.pdf'
I have the same stereo so if you can't figure out the manual let me know but it's pretty simple.

Amp guard on stereo?

I found this simple message on "TeamClarion" site when I had an "amp gaurd" issue.

Step 1: Disconnect all the speakers2_bing.gif from the head unit and try again. If the same message comes up, send the unit in for service.
Step 2: If the message goes away, you have a wiring problem. Check each speaker lead for a short circuit, damaged speaker or a ground to chassis.

Basically means one set (or more) of the speaker leads are touching each other (shorting out). This can be somewhere inline to your speakers or your speakers them selves. The advise above isn't to clear. In the first step they want to rule out the speakers attached but "disonnecting all the speakers" is vague. You should disconnect at the rear of the radio. This might be difficult because the multi plug in the back has the speakers and power wires together (at least most clarions). Also if it was a good install then the outgoing speaker wires were soldered to the long run speaker wires going to the speakers.
To truly test for radio fault verses the wiring or speakers, you have to sever the connection at the back of the radio. If this is not something you wish to do then there is one suggestion. Order a new multi plug for the back of the radio. This way you can pull the old plug and test it with a new plug with no speakers attached (just have to run 12v positive and negative).
If the radio is OK then start by checking all the wires to your speakers (if possible). If nothing seems bare and shorting (remember it's usually in tight places or were the wires are hanging loose that vibration will cause cutting to the wire) then disconnect all your speakers (at the rear of the speakers). Turn the radio back on and see if it does the error message2_bing.gif again. If not reattach the speakers one by one checking for the error message.
You can check these in any order. If you don’t want to order a new plug then you and can’t get to much of the wiring to physically check then starting at the speakers is OK.

On my clarion cx609 double din player i need an antenna out wire

This radio has a multi wire plug. In this mess of wires is a blue one and a blue with white tracer. The Blue and white tracer wire is for the amp and the solid blue is for antenna. If you do not see these then look for an empty socket in the back of the plug where all the wires are coming out. This might have been cut by someone or pulled out by a bad de-install job.

Clarion cx609 smooth install BUT it doesnt fit entirely flush in my 03' toyota 4runner. There are about 1/2 inch gaps on either side. HELP

This is a CORPORATE double din opening

You must use a dash install kit.
Metra makes one numbered 95-8210.

Other manufacturers make install kits for this vehicle as well. Scosche & American International to name a few.
