So, the problem is not from inverter board. I used to repair LCD flat screen from Dell. I found that it is a broken lamp. It is not big but very small crack. You might double check it again.
Thank you,

Pwr Led blinks orange, with black screen (monitor is connected to computer)

Take off the monitor and hook up another known working monitor to the computer and turn the computer and monitor on. If the computer turns on with video then you know the original monitor is bad and would need to be replaced.

Sony sdm-hs75p runs for 5 odd minutes then screen goes blank?

h_e_l_l_f_i_, Have you performed the flashlight test after the screen goes "BLANK" ?? No!! You will not find the "flashlight" test listed in the OWNERS manual!! The test is a quick evaluation of the STATE of the units "switch-mode-power-supply". Did you repair the power supply to get online to fixya? The more info you tell me about your LCD monitor the better I can assist you. Is the unit really "BLANK" or is it just "BLACK"?? Can you SEE the WIN-desktop when a bright "flashlight" is held 1" from the screen at different angles? If you can see a faint image being displayed it means the SMPS is in partial shutdown and still powering the VGA to LCD interface board. If unit is both BLACK and BLANK, then SMPS is likely in full shutdown mode! I will assume that when you stated "runs" for 5 minutes, that it would display normal text and graphics as usual and NOT be wearing a pair of NIKE's runners footwear? Yes! From your description it would lead me to think that your SONY has a SMPS/INVERTER problem. You failed to state the age and or approximate TOTAL "ON" hours the unit has. (hrs/day x 350days x Years since DOM). It makes a difference in whether I tell you to trade up to a wide screen or have it repaired(refurbished with new SMPS/INVERTER or just rehab the SMPS on your own. hellfi, surely, after reading this you WILL go to YOUTUBE, (just fyi) and view some of the longer video clips of "LCD monitor disassembly" and typical "LCD monitor repair"!! You WILL be impressed at how much you will learn about how "the black screen of death" is dealt with. If this response helps in any way, please rate it on fixya. 12fixlouie lmistyrel @ aim.com Get back to me if further assistance is required asap!!!

I have nec 2010x monitor, the monitor will sometimes work for a week or 2 or go black after a few days. The power light is on, and when I turn it off and on I can hear it turning on. The screen goes black...

Could be one of three things -
Backlight going out
Inverter card going out
or
PowerSupply
If you can hear a lcd turrning on then it's probably the power supply.

Laptop monitor goes black

If you're working on the computer when that happens, it's not probably a power setting. Try to update your BIOS to the most current version at the toshiba support website (support.toshiba.com) & see what happens. Fixes the issue most of the time

I hope this helps.

Monitor goes Black off and on .....

I had the same problem for about a week and solved it yesterday by downloading the latest driver by NVDIA who makes my video card (NVDIA GeForce 6200).
I had previously updated the latest Sony driver for the monitor. It did not solve the problem but could be part of the solution in conjunction with the new video card driver.

LCD Monitor Goes Black during Use

I had the problem sometimes, but then I connected a second computer to the analog input and found out, that the screen didnt turn black but switches between the inputs on an on.

I found out that the "input" button seems to be short or damaged, as the behaviour was invertable by pressing the button. I blew into the button some times (a very naive solution, yeah) but it worked, the switching stoppped.
