Hi Mark,
the fault sounds like a t-con board fault, your 5 blink error code means little without the Brand and Model all manufacturer fault codes are different, post your TV Model and Brand for more specific help :o)
The number of times it blinks is a code as to what the problem is. Go to the Panasonic web site and enter the model number etc. and it should tell you some where what the blinks mean. Different TV Manufacture's have different code blinks. Or you might get through by phone and talk to a tech. Then you will know what to do fron there.
Gillight
The Menu pops up when changing channel and power light is blinking?
Brand and model number are not posted here but a guess is the light is blinking in response to the remote---point remote at the set and when menu pops up power light may blink for an instant.
I would like to help but need more information.
click the make a comment button and tell me as much as possible.
You should check your manufacturers menu for that computer. Blinking lights mean something is wrong like the power supply is no good or your motherboard has gone bad.
The blinking light describes the nature of the problem to the service technician. The error message varies from manufacturer to manufacturer and model to model, so more information is necessary to provide an accurate solution.
If this is a Sony Projection Television, (for ex the KP51WS620,) 10 blinks, pause, 10 blinks, etc. means "Hgih Voltage
Protection" and the probable cause locations listed are as follows:
1. Q8014 or Q8013 have shorted replace along with R8051 on D board. 2. IC8005 is damaged (D board). 3. G2 is improperly adjusted.
These are starting points for a qualified service technician.
I hope that helps.
The solution at this point would be to get the power supply repair since new boards are not longer being manufactured. In about 95% of the time if the LCD doesn't power up or turns OFF by itself or need to be unplug for some time to make work again; those are the symptoms of a dying or defective power supply. I service these power supplies, for more info write to [email protected]
Usually a power light blinking indicates a problem. The blinking is coded to indicate what the problem is. Try consulting the manufacturers website and look up the manual for your model. A dell particularly has coded blinking lights. Without know the make and model it is difficult to judge.
You really should give make & model number when posting, it helps us immensely, your lamp and possibly the ballast is bad, start with a new lamp first, odds are very good that it will fix your problem, can`t help more without manufacturer and model number, good luck, ps, order the original lamp, generics are junk and a waste of your money.
