You should try resetting the BIOS back to default - if I remember correctly, the Dells of that time had that option in the BIOS. If you still have issues, it may be a coincidence that the drive encountered problems at the same time as when you changed that setting. The software settings you picked in Windows shouldn't affect the drive being seen in the BIOS.

How do I recognize my SimpleTech, 500 GB external hard drive?

could be some solutions for this.
  • hardrive is damaged and is not working. (no cheap solution)
  • hardrive lost format, and it need to be formatted again.
  • windows plug and play can't assign a drive letter.
this last option you can make it entering:
start > right click on my computer > Storage

then identify your hard drive (plug it and unplug it, Plug and play will show it,) then assign a different drive letter, and that's it. if it is not working try to format it from there, but be aware that if you format it, you are going to lost everything.
the only thing you can recover ir the hardrive as hardware. not the information.

hope the information helps.

god luck,

Hello guys I just read in a previous thred about an error cod I got on my Dell inspiring 1545. the error code 0F00:1332 everyone posted hardrive issues but I already used my warranty before to get a new...

If you ran diagnostics with an empty cd/dvd drive you will get error code like this.

If means that cd/dvd drive was not able to find a good media.

If you are still getting an error even cd/dvd reads any media during the test, i would suggest to replace your hard drive.

Hope this helps.

If your hard drive is not being detected, try looking in the bios. I had a similar problem and for some reason the setting for using the hard drive as a bootable device had been changed.

I can not get passed a Master Lock on my computer. It reads Harddisk Security, Primary Master Lock in a blue box. I do not know the password and I cannot use my computer at all without the master password....

Hello

This is a password setting that's been applied to this hard drive. It cannot be bypased as far as I have known. Maybe a hacker could get around it but it was designed not to allow this to happen. If you don't have the password you'll have to reformat the drive reinstall the operating system.

Good Luck

CD rom drive not showing up in

Common problem. CD driver did not install correctly.

Go to Device Manager. Unistall the CD drive. Reboot.

The Operating System will then rescan, locate the drive, and reinstall the driver.

Good luck.

I accidently uninstalled a program and now no sound.

Have you tried doing a restore from a previous day like the day before or somewhere close when you know you last had sound? or you may need to install drivers if you removed some. Try a restore to an earlier time then if that doesn't work come back here and post your speaker model and number I'll got into this further. Also might want to do a DXDIAG on your system and test the sound as well. to do this go into Start> Run type dxdiag press enter and let it do it's thing then goto sound at top and test and see if you hear anything if not u need drivers if you do may need to do restore also check your device manager and look for sound devices and check that they are ok and no ? marks by anything. If this helps you in any way please Rate thanks :) Good Luck Mike..

Uninstalled my network adapter by accident

If you can go online, your network device is installed properly, or at least good enough.

NVIDIA drivers have an uninstall option, they never need to be deleted manually. If you need to install older drivers that may work better for an older game, the installation automatically removes your current drivers that are installed.
