Hi,

This is quite a common problem on the Ps3 and is the first indicator that the Bluray drive is malfunctioning. Usually this can be pinpointed to the laser lens within the drive which is failing to read information from the disk. Sometimes this can be resolved by cleaning the laser but this is not always guaranteed to work.

Hi,

This is quite a common problem with the PS3 and is caused by a problem with the laser on the Bluray drive which is malfunctioning and can no longer 'see' or read the game disk properly.

The PS3 uses a dual laser system. This consists of either a dual refractor type lens or two entirely seperate lenses depending on which pickup is fitted to your particular system. One laser is for reading ordinary DVD disks and PS2 disks and the other for Bluray and PS3 games.

The symptoms you describe are quite typical of a failure of one or both of these lasers.

swich back and forth between the ps2 game and ps3 game or just keep putting in the ps3 game until it reads it. your laser is probally going.

There is a good chance this is a hardware problem you can't fix.

The first thing you should do is try cleaning the laser. There is a video of how to do it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7O-8NzYHr80

If that doesn't fix it, you are going to need to send it in to sony.

My ps3 dont read any of my disks

Try turning the PS3 off and turn it back on. Then go to saved data and there should be games saved. If there is anything there then try putting a disk in.

Disk not reading

If the unit is not reading any disks, then yes, return it. Laser could be damaged.

You might want to go somewhere that works on game systems and get the disk reading laser checked and make sure it is clean and also make sure the game disks are clean and not scratched.
