This TV is probably finished. The picture tubes don't normally last more than 8 or so years with normal use. The back cover is easy to remove on most projos (power OFF!!). The picture tubes can be cleaned with a damp cloth like a chamois. Don't handle the mirror. The silver is on the wiping side - you will destroy it! Stay out of the electronics! Safety hazard.

Roughly how old is the GE JDP36 Drop In Range?

According to GE's website, the serial number gives the manufacturing date: http://www.geappliances.com/search/fast/infobase/10000722.htm
However, for my JDP36 drop-in, the serial number starts with DS, which can mean Feb. of 1997 or 1985 (I know how old the house is, and the version of the manual online cites a food handling book from June of 1985--USDA's Safe Food Book). However, the manual is the 4th revision. And I'm not sure how modern electronic interfaces and digital displays were back in 1985. So, I'm betting mine comes from 1997, although there is a chance of it coming from 1985.
I hope that helps (I'm still searching myself to decide which of the two years is the right one).

Dark spots on tv

I have the same TV, and I was getting the black spots on my screen as well. It is dust settling on the bottom mirror. Yoiu can call Mitsubishi and spend 150-200 on getting it cleaned, or you can do like I did and take the front panel off and the 10 screws around the edge on the back of the black plastic border around the screen. Then lift up gently and have someone hold the screen for you and gently dust the bottom mirror. I did this by myself, but it would be wise to have 2 people do it.

Problem with Samsung PCJ522R 52": White is yellowish

It is possible that you may have had a leak in one or more of your CRT coolant chambers, see: Product: Projection TV Bulletin # PJT01-001 Model: PCJ, PCK and HCJ series Bulletin Date: 6/1/01 SUBJECT: CRT Leakage Background: When repairing set for CRT leakage, check if CRT has Expansion Chamber installed. If not, install Expansion Chamber on all 3 CRTs. Production during November 1999 ~ September 2000 will need Expansion Chamber installed. Rear panel will indicate production date. This can also leave a residue on your printed circuit board that would have to be cleaned off to prevent further corrosion and leakage currents. Hope this helps.
