In effect the reading head is almost for sure damaged and there is no easy DIY way to recovery data at home.
If the content is really important you can send it to a company who does data recovery. Service is expensive and probably it is going to cost over $1000, furthermore they do not guarantee success.
This company does hard disk data recovery
Alternatively you can ask to a local repair shop to take a chance , get an Hard disk of same model and replace the disk. I warn you that chance of success working in this last way are very scarce and there is good possibilities that you lose your data forever

Can I copy d partition from a bad hard drive that tested for 10 min before bad hard drive showed up in test

you could run the chkdsk utility

click start run type cmd then type chkdsk/r/f which will scan for and attempt to recovery any bad sectors and automatically fix any corrupt files on your hard drive there are many ways of running the chkdsk utility

click start right click on my computer you should see your drive usually C: select properties click tools check now tick both boxes automatically fix files and scan for and attempt recovery on any bad sectors

then select check now, start should schedule this task when restart

it will only schedule on restart if its the Primary hard drive with an operating system on it

do not do anything while the chkdsk utility is in progress any input may damage your computer

for USB drives click start control panel administrative tools computer management disk management right click on your drive select properties click tools you should see click check now click start two boxes

automatically fix files and scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors place then a tick in both boxes then select check now start

you might tick one box then return after its finished the first repair then return and tick the second box you should not do anything while the chkdsk utility is in progress any input may damage this drive

I found that you get best results by ticking one box then returning after it has finished then tick the other box

then try copting your d partition

There are also Data Recovery programs that might be very helpful to recover your important information.

Dropped my Transcend Storejet25p 5oo gb on floor !

Your hard drive is damaged beyond repair.
When a hard disk makes a clicking sound and the computer does not detect it then the hard disk is faulty. This is commonly known as "The click of death".
There is no way of fixing this hard drive, if you need to recover your data, then there are companies that can recover data off faulty hard drives BUT it will cost you an arm and a leg for their services.

I lost data, hard disk is correpted

Kernel for Windows Data Recovery is one such effective data recovery tool that has got the capability e of recovering and restoring files/folders lost after accidental deletion, virus attack or any other kind of logical error to access the data. In fact, the software makes a proper use of recovery algorithm that helps in restoring every single bit of lost information. Besides this, the tool is also very much capable of retrieving data even when MFT is damaged. Visit http://www.recoveryfiles.net for more information.

HI please I really need help! I was using my LaCie hard disk one day and then the HD started doing a weird sound (tick-tick). Now every time the pc is on and i plug in the hard disk it does the ticking...

Hello,
your drive suffered a head crash and the only way to get the data from it now is with a Data recovery center. If you do not need the data and your drive is under warranty, contact LaCie to get a replacement.

My Cavalry hard disk fell off from a couple of feet and now when i connect to the sys and power it on, it starts giving a wierd sound ..but the computer wont recognise the device.. is there a way to...

It does sound like you have the "click of death"

You could try remove the drive from its enclosure and connect it direct to a computer. If however it still clicks ticks or whines badly the it is probably toast.

You can however buy just a drive and put it in the enclosure. then maybe use crazy glue to hold it down.

A far as recovery goes then if it does not work on your computer directly then the other options is very expensive data recovery services
