Most likely a clog, either along the drain hose, or more likely, actually in the air gap vent. Disconnect the drain hose from the dishwasher and place a bucket under it. Run the drain cycle. This should clear any clog along the drain line. Remove the air gap vent from the top of the sink and disconnect the other hose. Remove the small cap at the top of the vent by pressing the small clips on opposite sides of each other and lift the cap out. Using either a strong flow of water, or, a thin, long-blade screwdriver, remove any debris from the two hose connectors. (Problem is most likely in the smaller hose connector which is preventing water from flowing over to the other connector to drain out). So, during operation, water goes up the small drain hose, but can't go any further and water remains in the dishwasher.

Clearing the air vent cap/filter should solve your problem.

Is the water clear or cloudy?
Is there an odor?

How deep is the water? Less the two inches?

Soapy water standing in bottom not rinsing soap off dishes

It sounds as if it is not draining. Try to trace the drain line under the sink. Usually it goes into a disposall. The port where it connects to the disposall may be clogged. Another thought. If you had the disposall replaced recently they may not have taken the knock out plug out which would give the drain water no where to go.

Water standing in bottom of dishwasher, after wash cycle is finished? This is a Kenmore model 665.1565591

My problem too recently.

I blew compressed air back through the drain line and let it bubble up in the standing water in the dishwasher. Then I put it through another cycle and everything was fine. Something must have gotten clogged and the air blew it out.

Dishwasher not draining

So it sounds to me like it is your "pump" I work for an appliance parts dealer and it looks to me like the pump you need is originally part# 99002750 but then it changes to #6-917641....It runs about $57.00 and you can find this product at www.allbrandonline.com
Hope this helps!

Standing Water

are you leaving it long enough to finish it's programme or are you opening it when the drying light is on as some dishwashers leave a bit of water in the bottom to help with the drying programme
