If you remove the side panels and there is a fan motor and blade next to a coil that looks something like a radiator in a car, it is air cooled. If water cooled, it will have fittings so water lines can be attached. Also, look at the beater motor and compressor. On their name plates it will say whether it is single or three phased power.
Hope this helps.

Hi i have km-320-mwh hoshizaki ice machine, this machine is discharging water in drain continuesly except when it is dumping ice is this normal ...too much water is being lost please help many thanks...

By looking at the model number it is a water cooled unit. It will dump water down the drain continuosly as that it how it cools the compressor. If it was a MAH it would be air cooled and no continuos dump of water.

I have a hosizaki ice machine. the warning buzzer is continious. is it the control board?

check to see if you have the correct water pressure going into the machine. You need at least 30 psi. Also if your machine is water cooled, be sure cooling water is entering the machine. on water cooled machines there will be a continuous flow of water into the drain whenever the machine is running. If it is air cooled check the condenser coil to see that air is flowing freely through the coils.

Our sub zero seems to defrost in cycles. Not sure why ice cream melts in there while other meats remain frozen. Is this an expensive problem?

Hi,
The defrost may be lasting too long....and ice cream is always the first thing to melt... you need at least 10 F to keep ice cream hard...

Beater stuck in Taylor Ice Cream Machine Model Number 168-27

these units are usually set up to have the beater rotate in a clockwise direction facing front. If they get stuck, it is usually due to excessive wear or the hexed end has been lubed and has created a suction seal in it's counter part. Try rotating the beater in a counter clockwise direction while holding the drive wheel pulley stationary. Be sure to unplug unit first. this has worked for me in the past but can be very difficult at times.

I have model 630 mwf water cooled keeps beeping twice i reset clean machine water well clean float will cycle a few times and then beep again what should i do next

Hi, I have worked on these machines many times, air and water cooled. Do you have a code chart on a panel to tell you what the 2 beeps are on the control board? Do you have the original troubleshooting manual? This would be of a lot of help. This KM900 is a good size ice machine. I would pick up a gallon of nickle safe ice machine cleaner at a refrigeration parts house, read the instructions and run the machine through the cleaning cycle again. Hand clean everything you can get to again, this is the biggest problem I find on water cooled units. The nickel safe is an excellent cleaner made for this problem. Do you have a water softener for the inlet water on this machine? If not I would recommend having one installed. This will cut down on a lot of problems you will have in the future. Try this and get back to me and let me know. In the mean time I will research this ice machine to see what I can come up with.

Ice Cream Dipping cabinet running but not working?!

Ice cream needs to be below 0 degrees. It sounds like you have a refrigeration problem. The unit runs constantly because the temperature control is never satisfied. ;)

Taylor 1999, series 754, 3phase ice cream dispenser freeze up

I have had this with other Taylor machines. The rear drive bearing has a pin driven into the coupling that turns the beater bar. This pin will shear off. The pulley will turn and give the illution that the beater bar is turning but it really isn't. With the unit unplugged, try holding the beater bar still and try turning the large drive pulley.
I have also had situations where the hex piece that the drive shaft goes into, was rounded out. As soon as the mix go a little firm, the beater bar would stop turning but the rear drive assy didn't.
Check this out and let me know.

Compressor stop after about 2 minutes operation

If your unit is air cooled clean the condenser. If your unit is water cooled check for proper water supply pressure.
