We have a Direct TV remote that does not have Insignia tv codes, the remote is about 3 years old and the Insignia tv is newer. Can the old remote be updated or new codes entered?NS-LCD37-09 is the model # for the TV

Insignia TV Code for DIRECT TV is 10463. To program the DIRECT TV remote do the following
1. Slide to TV
2. Press HOLD the MUTE and SELECT
3. If TV Green Light flash 2 times proceed step 4 otherwise goto step 1
4. Release MUTE and SELECT
5. Input 10463.

Are you trying to use the Insignia RC-800M to control a TV or some other JVC device? How old is the JVC product? Most universal remotes won't control a device that was built within 6 months of when the remote was programmed. (Newer devices will not work at all with an older remote.)

The RC-800M code for a JVC TV is 11601. For a JVC set-top box try the codes: 00775 or 01775. For a JVC DVD or Blu-ray player, try 32365. Big Button remote control have pre-programmed with 3 digit codes. There are no code for Insignia tV with it. Codes for this TV are:


0103 0189 0217 0135 0133 0116 0167 0456 0029

Anyway try a code search method. Some times, ti might help you.

Code Search
If after trying "Direct Code Entry" your device does not respond, or if your brand is not listed, try doing a search of the code library for your code by following these steps.

1. Manually turn on the device (TV, VCR, etc.) to be controlled.
2. Press and hold the SETUP button until the red indicator stays on, then release the SETUP button.
3. Press and release the desired Mode button (TV, VCR, etc.). The red indicator blinks once, then stays on.
4. Press the CHANNEL UP button repeatedly (up to 300 times) until the device to be controlled changes channel. The red indicator blinks, then stays lit.
5. Press and release MUTE to install the code. The indicator light goes off.

Most users will want to store VCR codes under the VCR button, Cable codes under CBL, etc. If you want to store a VCR code under CBL, etc., first follow the procedure for Direct Code Entry and press CBL in step 2 of Direct Code Entry, then enter ANY VCR code in step 3 of Direct Code Entry. Then follow the steps above for Code Search.

No problem, This issued will be only resolve with regular TV's, not LCD or PLASMA Tv's. Just press TV botton locate on the top leftside of the remote, right after hold the SETUP button for 3 seconds once the TV botton blink twice go and press 991 then 1 again, right after you have pressed 991 the TV botton will blink twice and when you press 1 will blink twice as well, after those steps keep pressing the channel up botton until your Tv shut off. That will work. Good luck

Insignia TV's are made by Sansui....try one of their codes.

There is a good chance that any remote more than a couple of years old will not have the code set you need for the Insignia since that is a newer brand.
One of the better places to find code sets for specific remotes (you will need the model of the remote) is:
