It sounds almost like 2 things are happening,

1. The drive itself it going out or the board inside that is connected to the drive is bad.

2. or the drive is not getting enough power through the USB ports (or too much maybe?)

I have only encountered the beeping issue on my free agent 160GB when it was not getting enough power to spin up the platters.

If you still have warranty on it. I would HIGHLY recommend you call western digital about it.

Hello Sir i purchased 500 GB seagate 500GB free agent go hard disk 2 years before. recently i encountered the problems as follows. usb did not recognize the hard disk and it sound like sparking also white...

What sounds like sparking could be a head crash. If it is a head crash
then you are basically finished with the drive. They all go sometime.
The only safe way is to have another backup drive and keep a current second
copy of all information which you must save. Even this procedure is not
completely safe.
The hard drive should not make any noticeable sound (not more than a fan
sound). If it does, then it is probably dead or about to die. If the information
on the drive is IMPORTANT, then you can contact a data disc recovery site
which can help you with removing most of the data from a crashed disc.
I pioneered this recovery system idea many years ago and several companies
exist now to recover data from crashed discs.

I USED MY FREE AGENT DESK EXTERNAL DRIVE 500GB ON MY MAC GOT A NEW DELL AND CONNECTED THE DRIVE...IT SHOWS UP BUT I CANNOT OPEN IT PLEASE HELP

if you still can see files on the Hard disk from MAC, then the reason of being unabe to explore your file from MS windows is that your hard was initialized by MAC with a format that windows cannot read.
move your data from external hard disk to your MAC then format your hard disk from windows OS with FAT32 format .this format is readable on both MAC and WINDOWS

My hard disk makes a beeping sound when connecting to my mac and it's no recognizable. I already changed cables and ports.

Hi.

Beeping sound means physical damage. Often there is no way to recover data.

Please let me know if you would need some more advice on this.

Regards.

Ginko.

My hd has started alternately flashing blue/red AND beeping. I tried a different power source, but it is still doing the same thing. Suggestions PLEASE!

Disassemble the enclosure.
Remove the disk-drive.
Connect it as a "slave" disk-drive in a desktop computer.
If it can be read, then the USB-to-disk-drive adapter inside the enclosure has failed -- buy a new and "empty" enclosure (about $30) and mount your disk-drive into that unit.
If it cannot be read, then the disk-drive has "died".
Check its warranty-status, to see if you qualify for a free replacement.

MY SEAGATE 500GB HARD DRIVE IS PRODUCING A BEEPING SOUND AND IS NOT WORKING. WHEN CONNECTED TO POWER THE ORANGE COLOUR COMES ON BUT IT IS NOT READ BY EITHER THE LAPTOP OR PC. HELP. I DONOT WANT TO LOOSE MY...

The disk-drive has malfunctioned.

Search online for a professional "data recovery service".
For a significant fee, they can repair your disk-drive,
just long-enough to copy your files to a new disk-drive.

If it still has a valid WARRANTY, exercise the warranty to get it repaired/replaced.

If the warranty has expired, then open the case, remove the disk-drive, buy a new "compatible" disk-drive, connect it, and thus "revive" your external storage device.

My seagate free agent desk 500 gb makes beeping sound when I plug in the power cord. it does make sound, feels like disk moving/ vibration when plugged in but beeps and does not register or pick up signal...

This sounds most likely like there is media/platter damage occurring if you feel the motor turning. Nothing you can fix on your own, you need a professional with a clean room to examine the issue.

My portable hard disk is not detecting by my PC/Laptop. it's working on other PC/Laptop. and i also installed my hard disk drivers.it also giving beep sounds.

The power supplied by the pc laptop on the USB is insufficient to run the hard drive.

If you have an external power supply option on the hard drive, please use that.
