When turning on the Xbox 360, a red light would be flashing at the
fouth section of the Ring of Light. You should then recieve a ghost
screen indicating an error
E 73.
You recieve a screen error
E 73 and section 4 of the
RoL flashing red. This type of error was caused by a General Hardware
Error relating to the Ethernet Port not functioning correctly or became
faulty and unable to operate even with or without an Ethernet Cable
connected to this port. The secondary code would be identified as
1021
for faulty ethernet port. I believe that there is no fix at the moment.
If you encounter this error, I would suggest call 1-800-4MY-XBOX or

- Note: There is known to be a temporary fix for this problem
but is not recommended if the device still has available warranty on it.
Doing so will avoid it's warranty, thus for you will pay $100 if sent
for repair.
The Sticks Method:
- Requirements: Xbox 360 (Power Cable and Composite/Component/HDMI Cable), two sticks (Like toothpicks, swabs)
1.) Turn off your Xbox 360 and unplug everthing.
2.) Get two sticks (Something like toothpicks or something that could fit in the back of the Xbox 360.
3.) Insert each stick to jam the two fans at the back of the Xbox 360 to prevent it from spinning.
4.) Plug back cables (Power and Cable connecting to TV; the RRoD will not appear unless the cable to the TV is connected).
5.) When RRoD appears (One Red Light), wait for about 10 to 15 minutes or maybe less for the Xbox 360 to overheat.
6.) At this point, you should get two red lights (Resembles Overheating
Error) so remove the two sticks so that the fans will spin in an
increased speed. After a few seconds, the Xbox 360 will turn off to cool
down (RRoD will still appear).
7.) Unplug only the cable connected to the TV. You can unplug the power
cord if you want to. Then let it cool for about 30 minutes or so (Feel
the Xbox 360 if it's cool or still warm)
8.) Replug all wires and turn your Xbox 360 on.
The Xbox 360 should now be able to boot to your Xbox Dashboard. I don't
know how this fix works but it's only temporary. Note that doing this
continually would cause it to now work even if you try to redo this fix
again and again. Doing so would make other hardware components to fail
permanently such as the GPU for example.
If this first temporary fix did not work, do the
second method: The Towel Trick. You can find the tutorials in Youtube.
Again, this is not recommended if you have warranty left and never do
this continually. Your Xbox 360 would completely and permanently fail
after that. if it doesnt help after all this....I suggest sending it to Microsoft for repairs
