Mower starts up fine then moves fine for about 20 feet then slows up and eventually stops moving. Also, the hydrostatic relief valve will not allow the mower to move freely

The wheels are adjusted too low causing the mower to cut the lawn very short. This will cause the blade to jam and eventually stall. Adjust the wheels so the deck is higher off the lawn and try again.

I have an LTX 1045 hydrostatic mower, was mowing and it just stopped and will not move. Motor is running but mower isn't moving. What is wrong?

theres two things that you can check on your cub that could cause this to happen
(1) ck to see that the towing bypass valve relief ,located in back low down below seat is not tripped , even a little , these levers are a bit tricky and might get bumped especially if you use a bagger (BTW) allways use the tow relief valve when moving a non running hydrostat tractor , or you'll end up with a non functional one fast
(2) visually ck to see that a belt has not come loose or broken , this can be seen ,with engine off and looking in thru under the front bumper ,down center of tractor .with a good flashlight
if its not these two then your gonna have to get a bit more technical in your troubleshooting

I have a toro model 71196. How do i disengage the tranny so it will free-wheel?

There should be a hydrostatic relief valve that can be pulled or turned when the need to manually move the tractor arises. On my Toro it is located on the back of the tractor itself.

The mower gets slower and slower and then stops moving completely. I turn it off for five or ten minutes and it's okay ... occuring more frequently ....

The hydrostat transmission is low on fluid. Check your manual, some of these can be filled...most cannot. If yours can't be filled/doesn't have a fill opening, Husq is going to recommend to replace the transmission (sealed unit). There has been limited success by trying to top off the trans thru the vent tube. This is not a Husq approved repair, and is very slow and tedious. But it is a lot less expensive. Good luck!

I have a 275 GT garden tractor with hydrostatic trans mission the fluid got low an would not move I bought fluid from dealership an installed fluid moved back an forth went to check level would not move is...

If the fluid was low and the mower stopped moving the hydrostatic will most likely need rebuilding or replacing. If it only started slipping changing fluid migh have saved it. You can jack up the rear with the tires off the ground and let it run in gear for a few minutes then do the same in reverse. Do this several times if it can be saved it will start pulling slowly when it does make sure it is still full of fluid let it down and drive it or mow with it. It could just be an air lock in the trans.

My riding mower workes fine fore about 45 mintes then it slowes down wants to move real slow and wont pull my yard sweper anymore. The blades engage just fine, the motor starts/runs fine It just moves slow...

Im assuming the tractor is a hydrostatic, in this case when the transmission starts to go...thats it, call the company and find a replacment or get another tractor. unfortunately rebuilding them isnt all that worth it

John Deere L120 transmission high pitch noise and no forward move

Try jacking the unit up. Start it up and try moving pushing the forward and reverse back and forth and see if it does it then. It sounds like an oil way in the hydrostatic unit has a check valve stuck. Of course make sure that the fluid lever is up. Hope this will help you. donnyb60
