Question about Audio Players & Recorders

1 Answer

Can I plug 5pc home theater speakers directly into pc tower or will I fry something? The speakers (made by LG) R from an old Sanyo DVD/VCR/Audio Home Theater System which no longer works. Home Theater System was a Sanyo DWM-3900 bought from Walmart 4yrs ago. I have a PDF file of the manual if that helps. Speakers R all labeled between 20/40W Max Input, SubWoof=50/100W. Spkrs=4ohm, SubW=8ohm? I don't know if speakers will try to draw too much power??? Or if they just won't be loud w/o amplifier??? R they self amplified??? Just don't wanna fry my PC or Motherboard! PC has HD OnBoard Audio & 430W Thermaltake P.S. Thanks

Attaching speakers to an under-powered amp won't DRAW too much power. And we're not talking about an amp here, we're talking about a PC which can
only provide enough juice for headphones. All it provides is Line Level (millivolts) output for an external amp to process.

The speakers are NOT self amplified. If they were they'd have batteries or wall power cords and RCA style input connectors.

What you will need is a replacement for the dead Sanyo electronics that can handle 4-ohm speaker loads. Then you can draw the output of your soundcard into IT with RCA cables..

Where to plug in the home theater on the tv?

If you REALLY want to plug your tv into your home theater system there should be rca (red and white) jacks on the back of the tv that say "audio out" or "speaker out" thats your tv's audio output. which is where you would plug in the TV to your home theater system.

But there's really no reason to do this and its not the most desirable way to set u a home theater. Sound doesnt come from your tv, and therefore your tv shouldnt be plugged into speaker (unless you have old school wal cable) sound comes from your cable box, DVD player, VHS, Xbox, Ps3 etc. the sound comes from your source, and these sources should be hooked up directly you your home theater reciever

if ur sanyo or home theater has an AUX,AUDIO IN, or a PHONO pins than insert the red & white (audio out) pin's of ur 360 in it & also select aux mode in ur home theater(sanyo) if availible.

I just bought a RCA rtd3131 home theater system. My husband trashed the manual and i can't get all the speakers to work when the cable is on. When the DVD is on all the speakers work but the sound is not...

If the cable tv has audio out jacks, or if you have a cable box with an optical audio cable, plug either the audio jacks into the RCA system or the optical audio cable, and the system should automatically simulate 5.1, through Dolby Pro Logic II. All speakers will not be at the same volume as they are simulating surround sound, not just playing the audio.

The TV will never have sound for the DVD as this system has no audio out puts. Realistically, most televisions have 10w speakers, and this system is 130w, so the TV speakers are useless in comparison.

I have the RCA RT2500 model and I am looking for directions to connect tv, DVD, gaming, Cable Box, etc are there anywhere on line I can find it? thank you

the back should have a squared in box around the inputs like dvd vcr sat tv cd, dvd and sat have svideo and component a/v plugs, the vcr just has component rca a/v ports, tv and cd are just for audio, then you also have the option to hook up optical for dvd and sat. just plug your vcr into the vcr box and hook up svideo or the yellow monitor out plug to your tv, hook in the speakers and turn that baby up.

Change the TV.
I had same problem since 3 years after moving from dubai to bucharest i believed that my home theater was damaged during transportation. I tryed all repair shops in my area but no luck, so i used it as a simple mp3 player at home.

Last week, after 3 years, i changed my old CRT tv with an LG LS3000 lcd tv and SURPRISE...my dvd have colours again.
