I have a dell inspiron 1525 laptop running on a windows 7 operating system. I've had this for about 2 years. Recently, it's been constantly shutting down/crashing but only when I try to run games (even flash games) or watch videos. I'm not an expert on computers, so I'm not certain what I could possibly do to fix it.

Re: Dell Inspiron 1525 shuts down
You have had Win 7 for TWO YEARS? Hmmmm well anyway thats the problem. You see Win 7 and games don't MIX, the only way may help is to run in compatibility mode for XP SP2, and Run & Install as Administrator.

Since it sounds like an issue with the Power first try to release flea power.Disconnect the charger, remove battery, press and hold down the power button for 30 seconds.Reconnect the battery and charger.Turn on system and check if it turns on. For further help please check Dell Inspiron 1525 Manual. Also confirm if the light on the charger stays on,when connected to the system.
Hibernate issues are generally an issue with the Video driver. Try the following:
Update to the latest list of drivers from support.dell.com
see if the issue is resolved.
If not, then try editing the startup group of MSCONFIG and see if an item running at startup is causing the issue. (Start, RUN, MSCONFIG, OK to open MSCONFIG)
go into msconfig and then click on the startup tab. Click on the button that says disable all and then apply the changes. Let the laptop reboot and when it gets back into windows try to go into hibernation mode again and see if it still reboots on you. If it does then its an operating system issue. If it doesn't reboot on you, then go back into msconfig and only enable the programs that you feel you need to run when windows boots up.
SInce SharePoint Services 3.0 and SharePoint Server 2007 does require a server interface to run the collaboration tools you are unfortunately stuck with running it on server software. But all is not doom and gloom as there is an option for you to run Microsoft's Virtual PC. Here is an article on how it works from Microsoft. (http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Windows/en-US/Help/97a74f0e-798d-45ff-b9bf-7feed68c40e51033.mspx) . This allows you to not ony run your native Operating system, but also run SharePoint on th esame machine in a virtual environment.
