To add other sounds to your notifications list, you will need to get to your SD card.

On your SD card, you will need to create a directory titled media. Within the media directory, create a folder titled audio. Within the audio directory, create a folder titled notifications.

Place any .mp3s or other sounds into this notifications folder. Unmount the SD card. Reboot your phone. When you go to Settings > Sound & display > Notification sound, you should see all the newly copied files on your notification list.

Good luck.

Voicemail alert tones

I think that there is just a generic message alert tone setting applies for both vm and text. If your voicemail alert tone and message alert tones are the same, this is probably the case. I have searched the menu on my phone and haven't found any setting to change vm tone specifically.

Changing alert tones

Dear msaitta, Unfortunately there is no way to change Text or e-mail alert settings at this time. Hopefully it will be available in a future update. However, you can change tones for the alarm clock.
