I have a tomtom 920. It is not able to aquire a signal. It is refurbished...I reloaded the application software, reset hard and soft,, still no luck.

    NO that solution did not work. I was always outside. I have done many things and now I am thinking it may the internal antenna that is the problem. I was hoping by changing the application software and doing both a hard and soft reset that would work. Thanks...any other ideas?

    Yes I updated the QuickFix like you mentioned. Nothing. I have even left my unit outside for over one hour. My other 920 unit had no issue finding satellites.

    I am in an area where my other tomtom gets 11 satelites, therefore an open area.

Are you INDOORS? GPS do not work indoors. You need to be OUTSIDE.

Also, install TomTom Home in your computer and plug your tomtom to your computer via a USB cable. Update your TomTom and try again

    If you are INDOORS, your TomTom "may" be able to lock onto some GPS satellites IF you have the latest download of the "quickfix". It is advisable that you update TomTom's QuickFix at least once a week (it's free and allows the GPS to get a fix on the GPS satellites much faster)

    Did you install and update the QuickFix as I mentioned? This usally solves ALL problems related to TomTom not finding the GPS satellites

    Are you trying to get a GPS fix in the middle of a city or where you are surrounded by building?

    then there is definetely something wrong with the one that can get satellites. I would suggest you try witrh an external GPS antena if you have one, but otherwise, I don't think there is anything "easy" that can be done (except taking it somewhere for repair or calling TomTom directly at 866-486-6866 Monday - Friday: 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. EST Saturday: 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. EST).

I am forever waiting for a gps signal


the signal is aquired from satilites, leave it outside for a while then come back to it, if it still hasnt aquired then sounds like you have a malfunction...call tom tom

Turn on your tt. On the map screen tap the screen then tap the wrench (change preferances. Tap the forward arrow until you come to set time. Hope this helps.

Waiting for valid gps signal


Go to TomTom Home on your computer and do a update for your unit. In the update list you should see a GPS quick fix which helps the TomTom's aquire a signal faster. Hope this helps.

repair both ...start fresh from start.....do a hard restart on the TomTom...this is located on the last menu of your tomtom...Factory reset...it will erase recent destinations and favorites....but it usually clears the tomtom....Now try to repair both the phone and the tomtom

The Logo screen freezes on start up.


Connect it to your pc then turn it on. It should either connect or ask you to connect to the pc. If tt home opens shut it down. Do a complete backup of your unit onto the desktop. DO NOT USE TOMTOM HOME TO DO THIS!!!! After doing a complete backup format the drive on your tt useing fat 32. Open tt home and let it reload your os. Do this a couple of times to get the newest os. Disconnect your tt from the computer the way you normally do and restart your tt. Reconnect your tt and do not let home start. Go to your backup and copy and paste your maps back onto the root of your tt. If you have any question email me.

it will be cheaper and better to buy a replacement GPS with a warrant.  Go to tomtom.com and se if they have refurbished models for sale.

My tom tom ONe cannot get a valid Satelite Signal just stays wait


If you are indoors then move outdoors to get a signal.

If you are outdoors then move your location by a few yards and sometimes it will suddenly aquire the satellites.

Happens occasionally with my unit. I normally set a route up then start driving and it suddenly starts to work OK.
