Before you get carried away double check that the jumpers are set correctly on the new drive to either CS (cable select) or SL (slave) and that its does not conflict with another drive.
You cannot have tow drives as MASTER etc.
Also a new drive needs to be formatted before use and will not show properly in windows until it has been set up.
If you want this o be the main drive set it up as MASTER or CS on IDE1
Your computer and bios are new enough to support most of todays drives up to 1.5 TB
Some versions of that computer also use SATA. if it is a SATA drive then make sure SATA is enabled in the BIOS before proceeding.
Hope this gives you the information you need

This could be a computer BIOS issue. Is the new hard drive much bigger than the old one? Is this computer more than 5 years old? If it is, it's possible that the computer BIOS does not know how to handle a drive much bigger than what was in it before. You may need a BIOS upgrade to remedy the problem if one is available. This can be a tricky task to do yourself unless you are comfortable with computer repair issues and don't mind the fact that there is a slim chance of killing your computer completely if the BIOS upgrade fails.
If you aren't sure, pay for a tech to look at it (or at least find a computer savvy neighbour kid) to set this up for you.
Hope this helped.
