During the spin cycle water pours continuously like fill cycle

During the spin cycle water pours continuously into the washer like it's in the fill cycle. Obviously, clothes never spin dry. The wash completes with clothes soaking wet. Kenmore 110-26962500 Top Loader

Not sure, but I think the test was inconclusive. Water does not run with machine off or unplugged. Water reaches proper water level based on setting, stops and washes like normal (no water pouring in). New observation, water pours into machine during both rinse and spin cyles. Would machine filling to proper level but run continuously during rinse and spin still indicate a faulty pressure switch?

I found a better description of my problem. Washer does not spray rinse, but water does pour in like it is filling.

  • Mindcell Mar 19, 2010

Update: After reading other threads about "Spray Rinse" problems, I suspect the timer is the problem because water flow and levels work properly. After an attempt to remove the timer to inspect the contacts, removing the main knob kicked my butt, and was unsuccessful. However, since rotating the timer knob multiple times, in different directions during my attempt to remove the timer, I must have disturbed the cause of the 'Spray Rinse" failure and now the washer is working normally. I will be prepared to repair or replace the timer if problem reoccurs.

Problem has reappeared. All washer functions appear normal except for 'Spray Rinse'. During the rinse and spin cycles, water pours in as if it was filling for the wash cycle. Is spray rinse a function of the timer, or some other component? Is spray rinse just a momentary activation of the water inlet valve by the timer?

Note - Water inlet valve appears to function normally, allowing water (H&C) to enter and turn off when supposed to.

This problem is commonly attributed to either a water inlet valve leaking by, or a pressure switch malfunction. The following link explains how to diagnose the problem:

Agitator won't spin during wash/rinse cycle. It's

Hi,

There could be several reasons for washer not to fill .Fill washer with water and wait for the timer to get to the drain mode.Unplug the washer from the electric outlet.Open the case, and disconnect the water hose from the outlet of the water pump.If you get water pouring out from the pump, then plug that up and check the hose to the sewer. If that is clogged, then you have found the problem. Some washers have a self cleaning filter in that hose somewhere. Check that to be sure it is working properly.Reassemble hose from step 3.Plug washer back in. If it pumps out now, then you are done. If it doesn't, then the water pump is probably defective, so replace it.

Frigidaire (LTF2940E) Washer starts, stops, starts, stops...

The cycle doesn't advance When the cycle doesn't advance, it's probably the timer or a cold-water supply problem:

  • It's the timer, if your washing machine fills with water and begins agitating, but the timer never advances--or if the washer is in a spin cycle and the timer won't advance. Then you need to replace the timer.

  • It may be a cold-water supply problem, if the washing machine fills with water, agitates, drains, and spins, but then doesn't fill with rinse water. See There's no cold water.

Brand new kenmore HE2 front load washer - keeps filling

Either your pressure switch is bad, or the air line that connects to the presuure switch has come loose. The pressure switch is located on the right-hand side rear of the washer with the top cover removed. It is a brown colored, disk shaped, device with an electrical connection and an air hose connection. Sometimes this hose comes loose in shipping, or the electrical connection may be loose. Without it, the washer will continue to fill and will NOT shut off. Now...if you just purchased this unit, DO NOT do anything that will void the manufacturer's warranty. It may be an inconvenience, but I would recommend you get the appliance repairman to come in and take a look at it. That way...you won't be held liable if something were to break. This is, however, usually a simple problem and not considered major. I hope this reassures you some. Post back with comments if you have any further questions/concerns.
