If you are able to find the entire power supply assembly, then is an easy install.
Check the link below and download the service manual from the link provided by rddixon. The service manual itself does not provide much info on replacing boards but it has the power supply schematic diagrams.

You can find the power supply here. This power supply is also used in many different plasmas, for example check more info from the link below if you intend to DIY:

Let me know if you required further assistance.
Hi kgee
Although this is not the exact service manual for your tv, it does have the same power supply.

As a matter of fact your akai is a samsung tv.
the replacement of that board is easy since it is all plug-ins and you can find that power supply in quite a few places,
Just google that part number.
Hope this help and good luck

Thanks guys for the replies. I have since found the service manual and as you stated it doesn't really do much for me in the way of removing the board. However, once I removed the back of the TV it was easy to see that this is a pretty simple task. Undo the wire groups that are plugged in and remove the screws that hold the board onto the TV. Replace with new board. Replace screws and plug everything back in. Put the back of the TV on and hopefully plug it in and turn it on and watch TV. Will save $120 on labor. Still can't believe that is what the guy wanted for replacing the board. The board is rather large but can be had from $100 to $200 or more on ebay. Hopefully everything will work as expected once I replace the non-working board with a new one. Again, much appreciation for your responses.
