Does it play on the mp3 but no sound comes out of the earphones? Also check the earphones to see if they work on other devices.
If the earphones are working well, then there might be a problem with the earphone jack of the mp3 player. Take to a technician for correction.
Sounds as though either the earphone's Plug isn't the right size or plug end shape... OR the actual Jack is faulty, and only making intermittent connections... or the wire to them is broken. What is best is take the MP3 unit along when buying any head/earphones and try them in shop..
As for Walmart... Talk to a manager and demand a refund or a change of type... Don't take NO for an answer. Also you don't need to spend that amount for them... any cheap pair that works will be OK. Try before you buy.
Make sure that you've pushed the earphone plug all the way in. Some Sansa players have very tight earphone jacks. If that doesn't work, it's likely that the player is broken.
It is very likely that the problem is in your MP3 player and not your ear phones. If it is still under guarentee, then take it back to where you bought it. If not it may be that the earphone jack plug is faulty? It is a trade off between the cost of repair against the cost of a new one. These things are often glued together so opening it could break it anyway - sorry
Your mp3 player works like a hard disk, make sure that it was not moving when you are listening to your music. If the problem is the same try to use a new headset/earphone on it. Loose connections on your headset/earphone makes you think that your mp3 player skips.
