I found this on another website, most likely it is your power supply capacitors.
Press the "reset" button and hold for 10 seconds .... Does TV turn on and blinking green light turn to solid green.
Unplug the TV from it's power source for various times, ranging between 5 minutes and 24 hours..... Does blinking green light continue upon plugging in the TV.
Disconnect ALL devices from the TV; DVD, Tuner, Cable Box, unplug the TV for various duration times .... Does blinking green light continues upon plugging in the TV.
Press Power and Menu buttons simultaneously and hold depressed for 20 seconds .... Does blinking green light continue to flash.
Press Power and Display buttons simultaneously and hold depressed for 20 seconds .... Does blinking green light continue to flash.
Insure that no front panel buttons are inadvertently stuck in an "engaged" position.
Diagnosis: If none of the above test resolve the issue, then the failure lies in one of the following:
SYSTEM RESET If the TV will not respond to either the remote control or the front panel controls and/or will not power Off, press the SYSTEM RESET button with a pointed item like the end point of a paperclip. The TV will turn Off and the TIMER light will flash quickly for about one minute. When the TIMER light stops flashing, you may turn on the TV again. Changes you made the last time the TV was On before you used the SYSTEM RESET button may be lost, however, the changes you made previously are not lost. POWER/TIMER Indicator The green light is a multi-function indicator. This light will flash rapidly for about one minute each time the TV is plugged into the wall electrical outlet, when power is restored after a power failure, or using the SYSTEM RESET button. Do not attempt to turn on the TV again during this period. Wait for the flashing to stop and the light to turn off, before attempting to turn the TV on. Is your set a mitsubishi/ If so you need a DM repair kit they have various kits for the different mitsubishis at the following link under the repair kit category. The kits contain the replacement capacitors and instructions on CD. http://servicemanuals.vstore.ca/
Hold the volume down button on the tv until the volume is at min. then continue to depress the volume down button on the TV. While depressing the volume down button the tv hold the pip or split button on your remote for approx 5 sec. You will see a box pop up that says lamp timer reset and gives instruction on how to exit.
You need to replace the 1000uf capacitors on the DM board thats the classic symptom of the DM caps being bad the light continues to blink repeatedly. If you need more info on the repair let me know.
the dlp will most likely need a qualified mits repair center to take over for you. repairing that set is pretty involved. and the parts you would need are not available to the public.
on your 48" CRT projection check the DM module for 4 vented 1000mf 16v capacitors. replacement should get you tv working great
My Mitsubishi WS-73713 had the same blinking green timer light problem and would not turn on. I tried the reset button and unplugging power to no avail. I found that by simultaneously holding down the remote control "power" button and "volume" button for about 30 seconds the blinking light would go out and a solid green light would come on. Even though the solid green light came on the unit would still not power up. After doing this several times however the unit did finally power up in a normal mode and appears to be working again. It's worth trying before calling in for an expensive repair. PS - From here on out I'm sticking with SONY or Toshiba sets which have given be great service.
