I have an iomega screenplay plus multimedia player. i loaded 1TB of movies to it and then hooked it to my TV i used a HDMI cable from player to TV. The menu shows all the movies are there. when click on a movie it just brings up a empty box and wont play. all the files are mkv. when hooked to my computer it works

Mine is the same problem too cant connect Iomega Screenplay-director with my Philips 32pfl LCD with hdmi though composite connection works.....with hdmi its just blue screen which says video mode not supported....

Please check the format of the video that you are trying to play.
this Iomega ScreenPlay Plus HD Media Player is certified to play popular DivX video, and supports many of today's popular CODECs and file types, including H.264, WMV and MKV, as well as plenty of others. (For a comprehensive list of supported video, audio and photo files. Most probably the video that you are trying to play is .3GP or .FLV.
For this you need to convert the video files to supporting format like DivX®, DivX Plus™ HD (MKV), XviD, AVI(Xvid, AVC, MPEG1/2/4), ISO, VOB, MP4, MOV, MKV,H.264, WMV, RMVB and MPEG.

check if the audio ts is present in the movies you just uploaded,(Transport Stream) is it is check if the correct compatible audio is there,and that you are not using another format not suported by the iomega,upgrade the latest firmwares when possible is good to repair those kind of bugs
