Try to use a full wired VGA cable, so the laptop can recognize the external display/ projector by the ID pins.
Many laptops deactivate external display ports to save energy

SOURCE: Yellowed image projection

The yellow you see is all dust on the mirrrors inside your projector.
If u are lucky you can get the mirrors cleaned by a pro, if you are unlycky as i was, the blue mirror has burn and u need to replace it.

Take your projector to someone who repaire tv:s ot other electronics, they will help you. If its only the cleaning its cheap, if you need to replace a mirror its expensive.

Good luck

SOURCE: Blue stain on the image projected by my PLV-Z3

I had the exact same problem with my z3, Turnes out it was the blue filter.
I used the full service manual, and managed to fix mine using the diagrams, and troubleshooting section.

You can get the full service manual here.

ASK Proxima C420 shuts down after 30 seconds. No indication of overheating or lamp problem.

Might be a problem with the video input. Try a different cable. If HDMI, you will need a really good cable for HDTV or 3D, and they are very expensive. My 12 foot cable cost $180.

Look for the F-key with a square/icon of a laptop. Press FN+This button until you see your screen display show that it will be using your LCD + the output on your computer. Remember you need to hook both the VGA or HDMI out to the projecter as well as the USB cable.

Large dot in the middle of the projected display

there is a burned-in spot on the polerizer light filter for the blue lcd. it makes sure the light is blue coming through, that's why it is black on a blue screen, and yellow when the red and green are the only light showing through. it needs to be replaced. pat # PFiLW0213CEZZ.

PC connected to projector shows only in Blue

Are you saying that the projection is solid blue? Is it similar to, say, the desktop on the laptop screen? Try moving your mouse off to the right side of the laptop. Did it show up on projector? Exciting! Try dragging stuff over. Damn, this is sweet.

Presentation mode is off...

I'm going to guess that you have a wide screen Dell laptop with a 16:10 aspect ratio and a default resolution of 1280X800. The wide screen is great BUT most presentation grade projectors do not have a native (pixel for pixel) 16:10 mode. Instead they still prefer a display input with a 4:3 aspect ratio like your old square CRT or standard definition TV. Why do they prefer a 4:3 input? Mainly because Powerpoint prefers to display a slideshow in a 4:3 mode. Because of this Dell, in their infinite wisdom, created the 'presentation mode' utility in an attempt to automatically convert the VGA output of your laptop from 16:10 to 4:3 on the fly. In my experience this is an annoyance at best and at worst can seriously impact the size and quality of the projected image.

The best thing you can do when you connect to a projector is ignore the presentation mode alert and manually set your laptop's resolution to 1024X768 for an XGA rated projector or 800X600 for an SVGA rated projector. This will cause your desktop to look stretched on your laptop but will give you by far the best projection image.
