The Aspire One has an external VGA port so you will use that and a VGA cable to connect to the projector. You may have to press the Display mode button (typically Fn+one of the function keys with the rectangle 'display' on it) to enable the external VGA port.

Make sure you have all drivers and software necessary for the projector installed on your laptop. You can find them on viewsonic's website. Also go to Control Panel>Display>Connect to a Projector and insure all settings are correct. Let me know if you run into problems.

I need to show Powerpoint slides from my Acer Aspire One netbook. When I connect to the projector it does not work. Why?

Have you pressed Fn+F5? It commands using external monitor/ projector. Try this:
1. Connect to projector with projector in ON position
2. Restart your PC
If it won't work:
1. Restart your PC, press F8 frequently, choose "enable vga mode"

No LCD connectivity

Hello, I am using a Viewsonic lcd projector with my new Acer Aspire One. I did not have connectivity off the bat. Here's what I did: 1. Downloaded driver (unsigned, not the signed version worked - ie not os-specific) for the lcd projector to the Acer. Restart Acer. 2. With lcd projector connected to Acer, toggle function key & F5. But then, continue holding down the function key. A screen pops up with icons for laptop, laptop/monitor, dual monitor, and lcd projector. You continue to hold down the function key and then press the F5 key to move to the desired device. I had to repeat the same process to restore my Acer screen to the original proportion when not using lcd projector. I'm not sure if both steps 1 and 2 are necessary, but I did it simultaneously, so I'm not sure of the origin of success.

Can't work projector with computer.

When you connect the data projector to the laptop, power up the projector then the laptop. The laptop will automatically switch the video to the projector.
If you power up the laptop first the you need to switch the video output to the external video port by press and hold the Fn key and then press one of the functions keys that has a screen symbole on it, by repeating this again you can toggle between the projector and the LCD screen, even having the both displayed at the same time.
If you still have a problem, then the screen resolution is set too high and the video won't display on the projector, reduce the screen resolution to 1024x768 to see if it works, if not you may need to reduce it further.

ok ... try this, switch on your aspire laptop, then u switch on your LCD multimedia projector... then u press the F5 key on your keypad(on your aspire) , HP, and many other manufacturers uses that key for the LCD,CRT,projector extension slot while other laptop manufacturers like Gateway e.t.c uses the F4 key for the extension... after you have done that... your aspire screen goes dim then it should show on your LCD...but if not then switch off your laptop with your LCD multimedia projector ON then swicth on your laptop it will automatically work with it ok.....

this applies to other laptops and projectors or LCD s ...

ACER Aspire One AOA150-1635 and Sharp XR32-X projector

you need to connect it with VGA. then enable the 2nd monitor

4972c40.jpg
now you should have a wallpaper on the projector, you can drag objects to it by draging them out from the screen.

if you don't have the 2nd screen option. Then hold down the blue FN button and then tap F5 see if the picture comes, the FN + F5 will swap around with the outputs.
