Question about Samsung HLN617W 61" Rear Projection HDTV

1 Answer

My HLN617W dlp will turn on with no picture (sound is OK), then will seem to turn off, then back on again without me doing anything. After this ritual being repeated, the lamp and power lights will start to blink followed shortly by the red temp light. All 3 will blink and the only way to turn the TV off is to unplug it... any ideas?

The lamp is finished. Order a new lamp using the code on the side of the TV. Remove the lamp door on the back of the TV (4 screws) and then remove the lamp (1 screw). Have a look at the lamp... is it damaged? See my tips & tricks if you want to learn more about the lamp.

Samsung hln617w dlp tv won't turn on. Red temp

Had similar problem. Thought it was the lamp. Examined old lamp but it appeared to be good. Ordered a new one anyway. Changed the lamp but the TV screen would not come on. It would make the usual noise as it was going to come on normally but it would cycle 3 times & then turn off. The LED lights in the front panel would indicate a defective lamp. Then read about the ballast. Changed the ballast & still same problem. Tried starting the TV without the lamp installed & noticed that the color wheel did not spin. Removed old color wheel & discovered it was broken. This appears to be the cause of all of my problems. I wish I new earlier of the test-turn on the TV without the lamp being installed & check to see if the color wheel is spinning. Would have save money on the lamp & ballast.

Samsung DLP HLN617W TV does not turn on, all 3 lights flash

In this case it seems you may have an issue with your ballast. Either it's going out or barely starting. I recommend you replace it

Samsung DLP HL-P6163W with no picture

might is not a good word from a tech. there is nothing you can really do yourself without possibly doing damage. browse the Internet for the board at a better price then have him come back and install you will at least save some money. good luck wish this was a quick fix problem if the tv has not been out of warranty long call the manufacturer they might still honor the part.
