Rarely does anything good come from dropping a laptop. It could be a loose connection or the keyboard needs replacing. Open the laptop and reseat the keyboard connection.
The keys have probably gone bad on the keyboard. I'd recommend you just get a new one. Replacing a keyboard is actually pretty easy, and you can get the part from online for fairly inexpensive. Just make sure the models match because all VAIO keyboards are not alike. There are several tutorial videos if you need them on youtube for simple repair work. Don't be daunted, it usually just involves a few screws and popping the keyboard out. This isn't anything you should pay someone to do unless absolutely necessary.
I am very sorry for your problem I had had the same problem a few years back you can try super glue as a temporary fix but the key board really dose need to be replaced if its not covered under warranty you can just bring it to a local computer repair shop and they will be able to fix it for you for a fairly cheep price.
Laptop keyboard keys will "pop" back on just as easily as they "pop" off.
place the key over the raiser. center it and give it a push. if the raiser or key sockets are not damaged it will just pop back in. Otherwise you will need to replace the key.
you can find boards on ebay. Replacing the board over the key is usually better. Many times people selling keys charge 7-12$USD a key where the board coudl be 20-30. Personally i rather get the new board but each has their own choice
Hi:
Replacing individual keys on a laptop keyboard is extremely difficult to do, and not recommended, as often the attaching hardware is damaged when the key is knocked off. The best bet is to replace the entire keyboard. They are not too expensive, usually around $20 on ebay, and are easy to swap out.
This is a very delicate process and may lead to broken parts by inexperienced hands!! I recommend you pay an expert at your local laptop shop to do this for you as it shouldnt cost much, as it doesnt require a total strip down. Also if you break something theres another part you will have to buy. I have done this several times (Stripped laptops down) and I can assure you it is a delicate process.
hi notesticky i once had a problem simlar to this one i was replacing a keyboard to laptop when a key pop-out what i did was to snap back key in place, on the keyboard layout has rigids that snap each key in place but if it's broken you might have to replace keyboard section. you can find a replace keyboard at ebay.com and don't forget put model # maker of laptop. good luck.
Most keyboards can be popped out by pulling them straight out and replacing them by pushing them straight in. If you have several sticky keys, you are better off just buying a new keyboard and replace the entire thing. follow the instructions on the owner's manuel how to remove the keyboard on your machine as they are different. it usually requirer removing just a few screws either from under the machine or by removing the small face plate just below the screen..Again, all laptops are a little different.
